Donald Trump slams Angela Merkel's refugee policy

US President-elect Donald Trump labeled German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s stance on refugees a “catastrophic mistake.” He said the policy would lead to even more countries leaving the European Union after Britain.

President-elect Trump heavily criticized Chancellor Merkel’s open-door policy on refugees in a joint interview published on Sunday with German tabloid newspaper Bild and British newspaper The Times of London.

“I think she made one very catastrophic mistake and that was taking all of these illegals, you know, taking all of the people from wherever they come from,” he said. “And nobody even knows where they come from. So I think she made a catastrophic mistake, very bad mistake.” […]

The bilionaire businessman said Germany had “got a clear impression” of the consequences of her policy from a Berlin terror attack that killed 12 people in December.

Trump insisted he had “great respect” for Merkel and would start his presidency trusting the “fantastic leader,” but that his trust might not last long. …

For this reason alone, Trump is light years better than his opponents, Republicans or Democrats

The Donald calls um like he sees um.

This might not always be the wisest answer in every case, but you just gotta KNOW that the Donald is not bullshitting us. He might be wrong, but he is never, ever going to lie.

So tomorrow all the press will be saying how “dangerous” this is for Trump to be saying this.

I agree. When he looked right into the camer a few months ago and said, “I will never lie to you,” I was floored and wondered how any politician could make that statement. Then I remembered, he’s not a politician. Hopefully, he will never become one.

He is a vision driven man, and I see every reason to hope that his vision will be refined as he goes. Politicians angle for people’s approval. Donald seems to want to be judged according to his vision.

Not everything he chooses is best suited to a “Make America Great Again” goal, but even his mistakes are well intended and more attributable to bad understanding than bad values. On the balance, I believe he will succeed, and the successes themselves will leave a greater margin for the inevitable errors. It’s easier to have a halfway affordable, halfway effective socialized health program if the whole country is financially going gangbusters, for instance. It might not be as good as a full-freedom program, but it will be viable based on the the rest of the resources that will be freed up. Of course we should keep on pressing that Donald’s plans are refined, but there may be no need to get stompy-foot about anything. Rome was not built in a day.

Also I sense distinctly theological aspects to what is happen. At least on one bible model, Christ will return while the generation that was living when Israel was re-founded is still living. If this happens (meaning approximately 2000 years after His crucifixion, incidentally) then a pluperfect United States will be moot. We’ll be seeing a rapture. The world, divested of its Christians, will take on a markedly different tone.

I hope he always tells us like it is. We may not like it, he may not like it but at least we are drowning in lies and emotional rhetoric.

I hope he is always candid.

It won’t be long before the German government cuts off access to US news sites over there...there is NO WAY they can survive with a US President pointing out the elephant in the living room.

I hope so too.

I think he will be. People generally don’t change their fundamental character, especially at his age.
