Trump's Jews and Obama's Jews
Arutz Sheva ^ | 14/1/17 | Daniel Greenfield

Seen from above, the 2016 electoral map of New York City is blue with dots of red. Trump’s home district is blue, but across the water a red wedge slices into Brooklyn. Around that red wedge are districts where Hillary won 90 percent of the vote and Trump was lucky to get 5 percent. Inside it, he beat her in district after district.

The voters who handed him that victory are the Chassidic Jews of Williamsburg who dress in fur hats and black caftans. Their districts, crammed in by hipsters and minorities, are a world away from the progressive activist temples whose clergy went into mourning at Hillary’s loss.

East of Prospect Park, in a vast sea of blue, is what looks like a red sofa. Trump won here with the Chabad Chassidim of Crown Heights. He won in the more mainstream Orthodox Jewish communities of Flatbush. He won by huge margins among the Russian Jewish immigrants of Brighton Beach who listen to a man dubbed the “Russian Rush Limbaugh.”

As the left-wing Forward put it, “Nearly every election district that Trump won in Brooklyn was in a Jewish neighborhood.” But it was a certain type of Jewish neighborhood. The wrong type.

“You can compare them to Rust Belt voters,” a Forward source states. “They are hardworking people, not college educated.”

And then in Far Rockaway where the housing projects by the beach give way to the red Orthodox Jewish communities that extend into Long Island.

There’s a line that recurs again and again in the attacks on David Friedman; the man picked by President-elect Trump to serve as the ambassador to Israel. It’s not stated openly. It’s implied.

“David Friedman, a bankruptcy lawyer from Long Island,” is the sneering summary.

Hey, what’s that large island that looks like it’s part of N.J.?

How can any person of Jewish ancestry miss the warning signs emitted from the Democrat party? It’s tantamount to having some sort of death wish to support them.

Amazing, isn’t it? Hurts your heart to look at it, many are good people who are just so comfortable they think it couldn’t happen again.

lol. A piece of sanity in a city that lost its mind long ago.

Except for the north shore, which 60 years ago was a beautiful place filled with Irish and Italians.

Now it’s a slum filled with obummer’s sons and daughters.

Wonderful article!

My father is a classic example of a Jewish liberal who “lives like an Episcopalian and votes like a Puerto Rican”.

Ever since I went from being a Moderate Democrat to a post 9/11 hard core Conservative, I have had many heated political debates with him.

He voted enthusiastically for Obama in ‘08. Then voted reluctantly for Obama again in ‘12. By the end of Obama’s 2nd term, my pro-Israel dad said to me “he’s a Muslim”.

Only twice in his life, did my dad vote for a Republican. Once, in the 1950’s, he voted for a Republican mayor of his native Baltimore. And then, this past November, he voted for Trump!

Normally, I would send an article like this to him and have a spirited discussion about it, and the state of American Jewry. But at age 93, his health is rapidly failing, and his spirit is faltering. He’s too depressed about his physical state to get worked up over politics anymore.

I would forward it to all my Jewish Liberal cousins, but they already think I’m a Right wing nutcase, and most of them don’t have two brain cells to rub together, when it comes to politics.

Depends how you identify yourself. You are either a modern, hip, educated urban intellectual, and you find all this “out-dated” Jewish stuff embarrassing and a bit off-putting, or you are a Jew, part of an ancient people that has survived centuries of persecution and hatred by the latest intellectual fads to declare you outdated and embarrassing. I’ve been reading Maccabees in English (they actually don’t teach Koinos Greek in school!) on Friday nights to the kiddies, and I notice a conspicuous minority of Helen-ized Jews who sided with Antiochus and fought alongside Greeks against the Maccabees.

I understood your contemporary terms, but then didn’t understand the Greek references. I’m sure it would have been interesting if I did.

As to your reference to the ‘modern hip Jew’, I would think it would be only natural to consider what has happened to your people in the past.

I can’t fathom them not since their lives and the lives of their loved ones will depend on it.

I don’t understand it either, but I had a few co-workers recently that were Orthodox Jews and I asked them the same question. Their response was “self-healing Jews”.

Ironically, the original Hebrew text of Maccabees has been lost, and the Koinos Greek translation is all that is extant. The modern, hip types are as blind to history as they are to the wealth of their heritage.

Self healing is one thing, but forgetting the lessons of Jewish purges from the past, is not healing at all. Failing to learn from the past, could easily lead to self-destruction.

Healing? Not hardly, from my perspective.

Today’s Democrats are downright dangerous. There’s no telling where their animosity would go in short order, if give a long leash.

Look at their hatred of Christians.

Thank you. I appreciate that information.

I don’t like to see any old works die. While I’m not fluent in more than one language, I do appreciate them and don’t want any of them to die off.

Dude, damn spell check changed it. It should be self-hating. But I think you knew that already.

Isn’t that supposed to be “self-hating”?

I apologize for going off in that direction, but I don’t like to correct folks when they use their own terms. I’ll respond to the post as it was posted.

That does change the total meaning, and I would have said far less if I had responded to the term self-hating.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, and I’m sorry I didn’t catch it.

I’ve heard the term many times. When I talk to others here, I may not catch an auto correct mistake.

If I don’t know you, I may think it was just your way of describing something.

No offense was intended.

I have been careful to point out the differences between liberal areligious Jews and Orthodox Jews every time someone here on FR tried to paint all Jews with the same liberal brush. All Jews are not the same as far as being liberal or conservative voters! The Orthodox Jews were virtually all pro-Trump and rightly hate the Muzzlime-lovin’ Odungo.

As are a good chunk of conservative Jews. The media has painted Jews as one happy family for so long that no one can believe there would be different beliefs among them. Can’t tell you how many comments on FR that are lamenting why Jews vote Democrat only. Complete joke, unless you believe Fake News. Most people, have happily done this for years!
