Because we are being lied to?
It’s all because we Americans elected Trump. Evathang was okay when the boy wonder had our backs. /s
Key words - the end of this month. It'll show up on Trump's watch never mind it was in the making long before the election.
The economy is “obviously” in good shape because we have an exiting Democrat President, and an incoming Republican President.
In order to have an economy in poor shape, we have to have an exiting Republican President and an incoming Democrat President.
That’s just how it works. Any more questions?
No business is monolithic. You can’t take a snapshot and make a broad generalization
Boeing is always laying people off and rehiring. It’s their business model. It’s built into their wage structure and always has been.
WalMart? Who knows. Their margins are slim so they need a sharp pencil. Their Overhead is enormous for a company that lives off crumbs. Lots and lots of crumbs.
I have a buddy who worked for Walmart at the corporate level.
He said the letting go of the HR people (that’s who walmart is letting go of) is a good thing, and I understand after his explanation.
The HR people are to handle all the red-tape and rigamajunk regulations. We have 2 of our own in our small company, just to navigate our regulations.
Walmart is banking on reduced labor regulations he says. Now, I’m not sure that is true, but it makes sense. For me? I can’t let go of one of my HR people (yet), but maybe Walmart sees something I don’t see.
His other comment is that Walmart has been top-heavy for some time, and cuts in corporate were suggested many times in the past. Resistance to such moves runs strong in a big corporate environment I reckon. Perhaps Trump’s promise of cutting reg’s was the catalyst they needed.
Oh there’s layoffs aplenty to ring in the new year and close out the 0 era: Limited, Seagate, Lexmark just laid off 10% of sw staff after Chinese buyout
It’s less than 1% of WM’s total workforce.
For Airbus and Boeing, the sales party could be over http://www.businessinsider.com/airbus-boeing-farnborough-air-show-orders-2016-7
Because campaigning politicians lie and one must honestly research whatever it is they are claiming as opposed to trust them.
Because the US economy is not in good shape.
Boeing is constantly finding new ways to replace workers with automation.
Walmart closed a bunch of the mini marts/stores a couple years ago.
Today the home delivery companies are making headway. Notice the number of
delivery trucks in your neighberhood and on the streets. Amazon.com is gaining, imo.
I don’t go to Wal-Mart anymore. It’s all Muslims.
It is the internet and $3 gas. With near free delivery, most are saving money and time buying on the internet.
Women are still going to Banana Republic to see what looks good on them in person, but electronics, devices, supplies that don’t require a good look or fit are all available for less on the internet.
Landlords are going to see storefront leases going lower or just remain empty.
Recall that the economy remained in rough shape for a couple years after James Carter returned to his peanut farm.

Boeing has experienced several delays in delivery of aircraft at the request of customers. Many are airlines which as an industry is booming. The timing of those delays followed terrorist activity and the DOJ announcement in 2016 that it was opening an investigation as to whether there was collusion between the airlines regarding airfares. Obama’s henchmen announced yesterday that no enforcement action will be forthcoming in this matter. Depending on who you believe WalMart is cutting 500 or 800 or 1,000 at HQ in AK. I think the most accurate number is closer to the 500 which comes from WSJ and Forbes. WalMarts HQ in AK employs around 18,600. I expect some part of those cuts there are related to new DOL rules regarding overtime pay for certain salaried personnel. At any rate it is about 2.5% of people there.
