Couple renting Chelsea pad hasn’t paid rent since 2010

One couple found a way to make Manhattan affordable: not paying rent on their Chelsea loft for six years. Digital-content producers Zachary Bennett and Karen Nourse quit paying the $4,754.02 monthly rent on their West 26th Street place back in 2010, according to a lawsuit.

They owe $410,000 in rent and electric charges, their landlord claims.

"“For the building to be safe and legal for them to live in, the law requires the landlord to have a residential certificate of occupancy,” she said, adding that the landlord has not made any move to get the document. The lawyer insisted the building is unsafe, but defended her clients’ choice to stay for years rent-free with a young family. “They’re entitled to be there,” she said."

This would not fly in a MO court. You can't claim your rental is unlivable and continue to live there.

Look at how bold they are in their criminal lifestyle.
Not a care in the world who finds out that they are cheating a Landlord out of the rent. I predict this publicity is going to help the Landlord. Imagine the lessons their two kids are learning by this decision. $410.K!!
