On January 3, President-elect Donald J. Trump tweeted about General Motors, stating that GM was building its Chevrolet Cruze in Mexico, importing them to the United States tax-free, and selling them through U.S. car dealers:

How about the Toyota Sequoia? It will tow 7400 lbs.
No they’re not. Bing “vin decoder” and the model of car you’re looking for and somebody out there will have it.

checked one dealership here in Richmond Va. 22 cruzes, 6 have 3g1 #’s
To be fair, your Avalanche was so good that GM discontinued it without a replacement not long after yours was made. Nobody was buying it.
“To be fair, your Avalanche was so good that GM discontinued it without a replacement not long after yours was made. Nobody was buying it.”
Yes that’s true! We actually had to shop around at the end of 2013 to find one to replace the 2003 Avalanche we’d put nearly 200,000 miles on without any repairs other than brakes, tires and shocks. And if true be told, we liked some of the features on the older vehicle. It fills business, as well as a personal needs like nothing else. It’s comfortable, big, and is at home in the snow when we need it to be. To each his own!
Just checked my area....
Five Star Chevrolet in Warner Robins, GA has 6 of the 3G Cruzes.
Yeoman’s Chevrolet in Macon, GA has 3 of the 3G Cruzes.
So, yep, GM lied big time.
Reminds me of the time that GM convinced me that a Vega was a great car. Fool me once....
I love my 2002 Avalanche for work and family. No issues. Also wondering if I should find a newer used one. I was just telling my kids about some of the old cars my dad owned that would now be worth something if we had kept them (and in good shape). Everything from an old Model T that he up to the 1968(?) Pontiac convertible. (I’m guessing his numerous station wagons in later years wouldn’t be worth anything.)
“Hmm - I wonder if these Avalanches will ever be collector’s items. I doubt it, but.....”
Perhaps they are being made in an international economic enterprise zone. We have places in America that are considered foreign territory to be exempt from certain taxes. Local governments agree to this to get jobs for the local US workers. Kind of like driving to the embassy to work.
Here is his Twitter thread, not only are there Cruz sedans from Mexico for sale at dealerships across the USA, but other enterprising citizen journalists have posted photos of the cars, VIN numbers, and windows stickers showing Mexico as the assembly location.
So much for all the MSM articles claiming Trump was wrong. Apparently GM's PR department doesn't know what is really happening.
Most peoples’ experience with the Avalanche was nowhere near so good. Most found the brakes to be underpowered, most examples had leaks via the ‘Mid-gate’ in inclement weather and the steering linkage was pretty fragile as is the case with a lot of GM trucks. Early ones also had issues with piston slap which GM called ‘Cold Spark Knock.’ After they dropped the big engines from the truck, many felt it was underpowered for a truck that weighed significantly more than the conventional crew cab pickup offering of the time. At the end the lack of sales were not because of people not knowing it was available but because people had had bad experiences with the product - and because it was just a bad deal compared to a regular crew cab truck.
Clearly, GM is led by liberal liars, since all liberals lie. They needed to be outted on this, and proved they still cannot be trusted to be honest to the American people.
GM = Government (Obama’s) Motors
ping
The fisrt character is country. 1 is USA, 2 is Canada and 3 is Mexico. For GM Chevrolet products made in Mexico the VIN would start 3G1XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

“I have a Toyota Tundra and it tows large loads no problem.”
Yes, and it’s a pickup, not an SUV.
That’s true.
