"We Regret The Error": CNN Apologizes To Assange For Pedophilia Accusation, Issues Retraction

It didn't take much for CNN to fold after Wikileaks threatened to sue it for defamation.

As reported on Wednesday, the whistleblowing organization threatened to sue CNN after the biased, pro-Clinton news organization aired an interview with Phil Mudd, in which the paid analyst and ex-Deputy-Director of the CIA called Julian Assange a pedophile. CNN’s counterterrorism "analyst" made the on-air statement on Wednesday while discussing WikiLeaks. Mudd boldly declared that “there's an effort to protect WikiLeaks (and) a pedophile who lives in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.”

Shortly after the lawsuit threat, CNN promptly apologized for the segment and conceded that “CNN has no evidence to support that assertion."

Unwilling to be subject to discovery proceedings, and further accusations of spreading "fake news", CNN said that it "regretted the error" made by its guest: “Assange is currently wanted for extradition to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations there, and no evidence suggests that the women involved were minors. We regret the error,” it read.

CNN also issued a retraction by deleting the tweet which included the original video clip. The retraction was posted to their New Day Twitter account.

The only known accusations of pedophilia against Assange stem from a strange dating website that claims to be a former UN Global Compact member based in Houston, but which has since been delisted by the UN. The website made claims in October that Assange had sent pornographic material to an 8-year-old Canadian girl living in the Bahamas.

“the women involved”

... were consenting adults, quibbling only over condom use. Assange wanted au natural, so they accused him of rape.

“Wikileaks Threatens to Sue CNN Over Assange Comments”

http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Wikileaks-CNN-julian-Assange-defamation/2017/01/04/id/766798/

“We have issued instructions to sue CNN for defamation ... Unless within 48h they air a one-hour expose of the plot,” WikiLeaks tweeted Wednesday

They’ve put CNN on notice and they have 48 hours to air a one hour special confessing to their lies or they are in big trouble.

He should still sue them for slander, especially now that they’ve admitted to it. They would have a fairly ironclad case. If they can get a fair judge and or jury.

(”“Assange is currently wanted for extradition to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations there,”

You are right - He is NOT -

those charges were trumped too - and Sweden finally dropped them

He would be a free many now if the US would back off.

Well which is #fakenews. The #fakenews or the #fakenews retraction of the #fakenews.

In other words, why should a liar get off the hook by apologizing. Why do we not assume his apology is also a lie.

Yes but who cares if CNN retractions. Gawker then and old that network. They need to learn with a HUGE penalty. Florida courts are familiar with this type of action.

And why on earth do these so-called news outlets think any ex-CIA employee is a terrorism expert when the vast majority of case officers are on official cover assignments and only a limited number of analysts have any in-depth knowledge of terrorism?
