Michael Wear, who led faith outreach efforts for Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign, believes the Democratic Party has a religion problem, and in an interview with the Atlantic , he sketched it out.
“[T]here’s a religious illiteracy problem in the Democratic Party,” he said. “It’s tied to the demographics of the country: More 20- and 30-year-olds are taking positions of power in the Democratic Party. They grew up in parts of the country where navigating religion was not important socially and not important to their political careers.”
For Wear, the party needs to develop a comfort with religious language, open itself to anti-abortion Democrats instead of closing off anyone who disagrees on choice, and better engage with the moral questions around abortion and other issues that touch religious belief. “Reaching out to evangelicals doesn’t mean you have to become pro-life. It just means you have to not be so in love with how pro-choice you are, and so opposed to how pro-life we are,” said Wear, later adding, “It doesn’t help you win elections if you’re openly disdainful toward the driving force in many Americans’ lives.”
That last line comes after Wear bemoans reports that “high-level Democratic leadership” was uninterested in reaching out to white Catholics or white evangelicals, a point he also made recently to Slate’s Ruth Graham. He treats it as incidental—an example of how the party failed, nothing more and nothing less—but the reality is that it’s central to the question of the Democratic Party and its relationship to religious voters. When Wear says the party has a “religion problem,” what he means is that the party has a white religion problem. And that is a very different problem from the one he describes during his interview.

Why a White person would vote for them is beyond me. you might as well shoot yourself in the foot. They offer us nothing. They mock us and strip us of our lifeblood. Good riddance.
They democrats are Marxists and have a problem as they hate God, family, and country in general, they are globalist socialists of the most dangerous sort and ally with the thugs of all dictatorships worldwide. America is the last free nation they intend to destroy. They are Americans in name only and should not be given American citizenship as they hate the Constitutional laws and liberties given to us by the hand of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
They continue to see race as a cipher for moral views. Its like a kid who does well in school is supposedly “acting white”... They see “white” as short-hand for working-class believing Christians.
DNC has always been and continues to be the party of the race obsessed. They are, shall we say, genetically unable to see character without seeing skin color. They are unable to engage philosophically without separating people into ethnic and racial boxes... quite simply because they are unable to engage the moral and philosophical issue, so they *must* shift focus to race and ethnicity. If they can convince you that your “race allegiance” demands you vote Democrat, then they don’t have to work so hard.
The message here (from Slate) is that the truly religious people (that is, blacks and Hispanics) chose Hillary, whereas the racist whites voted their genes when they went for Trump. Sorry, no sale.
I always read slate, which is liberal and predictable, but I especially like to read the comments. There are a few conservative folks who comment that have been commenting so long, that they aren’t easily banned. I used to comment, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been banned by now. Jamelle Bouie is their resident race/victim/baiter. No matter the subject, his take is always the same: it’s whitey’s fault. At this point with Jamelle, I just speed read it, because it’s wasted time on my part.
The modern “Democratic” party is based on hatred of whites and in particular white males, who they see as the embodiment of all evil.
They see their sole mission as extermination of at minimum white male electoral power and at maximum the physical eradication of white men.
To this end they have rabidly pushed mass non-white immigration into the United States, preferences for non-whites under the rubric of “affirmative action”, outsourcing of entire industries to non-white nations because it benefits said non-whites, and relentless physical, cultural and political intimidation of whites in general to try to cow them into meekly giving in to the troglodyte, regressive people and societies that the thuggish “Democrat” party operatives believe are more “deserving”.
So yeah, they got a white voter problem. Same problem that a murderer has with his victim: they just don’t wanna go along with the program.

Even more amazing and puzzling is why any black person would vote for a Democrat. The destruction the Democrats have done to that one race is astounding.
Of all Democrats, Pelosi actually figured it out best, back in 2006. She told Democrats running for the House that they can say ANYTHING THEY WANT to get elected, but just be with her on key votes (at least enough of them). Gun control was the classic...say what’s needed to get elected - then address the issue her way once in office.
For that, the Deplorables turned around in many Congressional districts and voted Democrat and gave her the House. While it didn’t help that Bush was also A TOTAL IDIOT (having pushed Amnesty non-stop for 2 years), it is still very scary how easy it was for Pelosi to flip those votes.
Republicans need to LEARN FROM THIS and never take anything for granted - just because a person has an “R” associated with their name DOES NOT MEAN that your typical Deplorable with a gun will vote for him - they have shown that they can be tricked and will vote Democrat, if we don’t CONSTANTLY present a strong reason to vote our way. Hopefully that doesn’t happen again.

The Democrats are the party of dependency. They want people dependent on the government in order to grow government. They don’t care about race except to use as a tool to get people to vote for them. Their message is to blacks is that we protect you from whites and will protect the benefits that you have become dependent on.
Good catch. He / they consider “important socially” or “important to their political careers” to be the big drivers to the church and religion.
Until the democrats develop a moral compass that doesn’t swing with every single identity issue, they have no chance of connecting with voters.
Snarky, denigrating remarks, which are the hallmark of the left regardless of whatever they address, need to stop and that can only happen if there is a change of heart.
Nothing will change. Working on perception fools no one. Attempting to relate to the “little people” without actually realizing that no one is small, that there are just small minded individuals on the left who view people as specimens, will continue to lead to more losses electorally.
“freebies” and or victim status are hard things to give up...especially if it is practically inner woven with your so called culture.
Then there is “white guilt” which is varying degrees of soft bigotry and feel good political correctness.
They have to keep making amends never realizing that left will never let it go.
The reality is race should not matter..merit should matter.
