When was the last time you heard of something like that?
This is a great first step in the right direction. Let’s not be displaying negativity in the first bite of the elephant.
I’m betwixt and between on this one...though national reciprocity makes it easier traveling while carrying, I’m not a big fan of anything national...tends to be watered down for the masses. Prefer a Constitutional view of it as a 2A right to carry, open or concealed, period.
If the NRA really cared about the 2nd, they would be advocating the fact that I don’t need anyone’s permission to carry a firearm, concealed or otherwise.
The 2nd Amendment also says NOTHING about requiring any permits or licenses to carry.
Eff the government.
I think this is a step in the right direction. Yes, it should be unnecessary and does not go far enough and overly federalizes the issue but.... I do favor incremental gains where we can take them. Plus it gives Head Clown Chuck Schumer one more thing to fight against. I want to see the Left on its heels as initiative after imitative gets driven home.
I would prefer something along the lines of a re-affirmation that unless otherwise prohibited, the 2nd Amendment means what it says. NO infringement on “bearing arms”. Carry at will. EOFS!
I agree, but may I make another proposal since we know this will NEVER HAPPEN.
All Persons having someone in their Employ or Employed on their Behalf for Armed security purposes, Shall maintain and possess at ALL TIMES a Firearm,Ammuniution, or Weapons are Present, a Valid CCW Permit from the State they legally Reside.
A Violation of this Law shall be a Felony, and upon conviction the defendant shall serve no less than 10 years in Federal Prison.
This is one way to PERMANENTLY ELIMINATE all the Hired Guns proud Liberals love to hire for themselves.

Lame and incomplete. Lame in that this does not end the patchwork of laws it claims to do. It says follow the laws. Does that mean my 17-round magazine and gun are still illegal in California? Does this law give me right to carry concealed in DC, New Yor, And California or Hawaii that really do not let anyone nut LEO ccarry? And what about other guns? My California “assault” weapon and 30-round magazines. The law is a bit obtuse on these points. Why not simply state that 2nd amendment shall apply equally in all states and that lawful ownship, possession, and carry shall not be infringed by any state or local jurisdiction. Preempt these laws for everyone.
What I worry about, is that any federal CCW legislation will impose conditions and requirements on states, in order for their CCW licenses to be considered in compliance.
The long term trend has been in our favor without federal interference.
That said, I would like to have Trump’s DOJ aggressively push the Heller decision against states that are still “May Issue”, on the argument that bearing arms is a Constitutional right, and that restrictions upon it are subject to the “strict scrutiny” doctrine.
