GOP House panel: Halt federal money for Planned Parenthood

A Republican-run House panel created to investigate Planned Parenthood and the world of fetal tissue research urged Congress on Wednesday to halt federal payments to the women’s health organization. Democrats said the GOP probe had unearthed no wrongdoing and wasted taxpayers’ money in an abusive investigation reminiscent of the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy.

The Republican recommendation was included in the special committee’s final report and was no surprise. The GOP released the 471-page document just 16 days before Donald Trump becomes president, at the start of a year in which many Republicans hope Congress will finally cut off federal funds for the group.

Most GOP lawmakers have long opposed the organization because many of its clinics provide abortions. Their antagonism intensified after anti-abortion activists released secretly recorded videos in 2015 showing Planned Parenthood officials discussing how they sometimes provide fetal tissue to researchers, which is legal if no profit is made. …

If there was a prohibition on the sale of fetal tissue and the investigation shows that it occurred, PP should be compelled to return the government money granted, and to surrender the profits from the unlawful sales.

I am all in for that. There is nothing in the Constitution that says that we HAVE to fund either of these two useless organizations. If we do not use this time the Trump Presidency has afforded us to really in truly get what we spend Federal dollars on curtailed severely, we are fools. Foreign aid, the UN, NATO, you name it, we have had a kick me sign on our backs for the entirety of my 76 years driven by the RATs and the RINOs spending our money on stuff most of us oppose.

It's not "federal money," it's MY money, YOUR money, being (mis)spent without our consent.

One of my resolutions for this year is to stop using the media's terminology (such as "federal money" instead of taxpayers' money) and use accurate descriptions: It's not the clinical/sterile sounding "abortion," it's murder. It's not "the knockout game," it's felony assault and battery. And so forth.

Sorry to skate off-topic, but the way we mimic the msm's deliberately misleading and inaccurate language is a peeve of mine!

What do they mean by “halting payments” or “cutting off” the funds? That is what you do to money that has already been allocated. All they have to do is leave Planned Parenthood out of the budget. You don’t need to establish anything about PP to leave them out. They have to establish that they have good reason to be included.
