People fleeing New York outnumber those moving in by 2-1

The clearest sign that the "blue model" of governance is failing can be found in statistics compiled by United Van Lines, the nation's largest moving company.  They report that outbound residents in New York outnumber inbound residents by 2-1 – a higher percentage of any state except New Jersey and Illinois.

Overall. the East Coast is seeing an exodus of citizens, with 59% of moves in that region outbound.

Albany Times Union:

The 2016 National Movers Study by Fenton, Mo.- based United also found that almost 59 percent of the moves within the eastern United States were outbound.

Where were people moving? Mostly to western states and the Carolinas, with one exception. That exception was Vermont, which ranked second on the list of states with the highest proportion  -- 67 percent -- of inbound moves.

South Dakota had the highest share of inbound moves, at 68 percent.

New Jersey and Illinois, like New York, saw outbound moves making up 63 percent of all moves.

"This year's data clearly reflects retirees' location preferences," said Michael Stoll, an economist and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. "Interestingly enough, these retirees are leaving at such a fast pace that the movement of millennials to urban areas in the Midwest and Northeast is being overshadowed."

In New York, inbound millennials were 27 percent of inbound moves and 19 percent of those moving out. But of those over 65, 26 percent were outbound and 20 percent were inbound.

While retirees make up a significant percentage of people moving out, the fact is, people are voting with their feet.  Walter Russell Mead has written extensively about the failure of the "blue model":

True. They are locusts destroying everything in their path. In Pennsylvania white liberals have fled Philadelphia to smaller surrounding towns only to destroy those as well.

New York State has shed 18 electoral votes in my lifetime. The exodus has been going on for decades. Albany and NYC have frigged this state up but good.

I look forward to the day I can put it in my rear view mirror.

Most of the people moving in do not use movers but are coming as illegal immigrants with literally the shirt on their back. So the net population is not going down. The blue states and blue cities are where the benefits are being handed out.

Not sure that this study really tells the whole story. Households that use professional moving companies with big trucks to move their belongings tend to consist of older, more established people. What we’re not seeing reflected in this study is how many millennials are moving INTO the big blue cities, but are using their friend’s borrowed pickup truck instead of United Van Lines.

Glad I left, but drum roll, I moved to Oregon. Its freer than NY, but that is changing with the influx of out of staters, like Californians.

Yes, I’m aware of the irony of my statement, being that I’m a transplant. Trying to keep the leftocrats in check. At least we do not live in PDX proper, but a more reasonable suburb.

Ya think? or, No shinola Sherlock! Unfortunately, these economic refuges flee to more conservative parts of the country and bring the foolishness which caused them to flee the Big Apple to their new residences.

The article does NOT point out that ILLEGAL trash has been moving into NY like crazy, to take advantage of the libtard generous welfare programs. So while the legitimate taxpaying occupants are leaving, fleeing the onerous tax burden to support this illegal trash, their numbers are more than being made up by illegals. I am limited to where I can move by religious requirements, so I could not move to some quiet little Nowhereville. The taxpayer base in NY and NYC will dwindle until there are more moochers than makers. I don't know what will happen to me when that occurs.

Right now, Chinese ghetto trash are moving into neighborhoods we never saw them in before, paying cash for co-ops and houses. We have no idea where they're getting the money to pay cash for what we need to take out a mortgage for. Then they stack people into these residences like cordwood, people who have no idea how to comport themselves in a Western environment. Love the trash they leave every day on the lawn, their use of the window wells as storage for the soda bottles they steal from peoples' recycling bins, their using the landscape bushes to dry their rugs on, etc. Turning a beautiful well-kept neighborhood into a clone of the hellhole ghetto they left behind in China. They don't bother to learn the language or make any effort to assimilate, so the neighborhood turns into a piece of China and is no longer American.

Selling guns in Florida, I stopped counting the number of mental midgets who asked about buying a gun and then said, “That’s not how we did it in New York.”

No kidding, that must be because we’re not in New York. Then after they wrecked the place, they wanted to do the exact same thing in Florida.

“We should raise taxes.”

“We should have more welfare.”

“We should have more gun control.”

“We should re-elect Barack Obama.”

Your neighbors destroy everything they touch. At least the ones from California don’t tell us about it every five minutes.

Florida don’t count as THE real south. It is already screwed. Florida is full of Hemorrhoids; Yankees that came down and won’t go back up and are a pain in the arse.
