In 1995, Congress passed “The Jerusalem Embassy and Relocation Act,” which was supposed to move the embassy to Jerusalem. More than 20 years later, this has not yet happened.
If there is already an act of Congress on the books to move the embassy, why do we need another one.

Given the fact that we've had a law recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and mandating our Embassy be moved, all that was needed was a President willing to enforce the law. Not Congressional action. Instead of grandstanding work on the many issues that require Congressional action. Start with tax policy and an Obamacare replacement. Not repeating old laws about Jerusalem and repealing ethics oversight.
It will be a nice statement to the world that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the Jewish Capital of Israel.

How about having bills to Repeal ACA and provide for border security on Pres. Trump’s desk January 20. Get those debates done now, save this other stuff for later.
I’m shocked that Heller would attach his name to anything as audacious as this. Maybe now that he is the senior senator from Nevada he’s feeling his own man and not like he has to check everything with Harry Reid before he makes a commitment.

The establishment will recommend against it and chatter about why it’s a bad idea, but we should do it anyways. Jerusalem has been the Jewish capitol since the time of King David. We should recognize that fact on the ground. Among other things, it will produce less backlash now, with a “rookie” like President Trump, than it would later or with another president.
