As long as Obama is hanging on he will still be the darling of the media and other democrats will get short shrift.
As long as he is grabbing headlines and hogging resources he will be sucking all the air out of the room so to speak.
In effect his presence will prevent or slow down the next generation of democrats from gaining traction and recognition as national figures.
Remember how Bill Clinton had a difficult adjustment period when he was no longer the center of attention?
Well we will probably find that ex-president Obama develops the Bill Clinton syndrome on steroids.
His promise to stay in DC and peck away at Trump could very well work to the favor of Trump and the disadvantage of democrats.
