The number of Belgians applying for firearms permits has skyrocketed, with applications in one major province more than doubling in just five years, according to the authorities. The trend is clear, the number of applications weve received for gun licenses has more than doubled in five years, said Divisional Commissioner of the province of Liège, Thierry Brasseur.

Europeans should be worried, their leaders will not protect them.
They are more concerned for muslims who intend to kill them.
Sort of like if Euros were not able to buy BMWs.
Just for comparison purposes, approximately 5% of the adult population of my state, GA, has a concealed weapons license. So firearms ownership is certainly considerably higher.
And Belgiums population is around 10% more than ours, so quite similar. I bet just my county processes more than 1400 concealed weapons licenses a year.
For a historical and USA tie in, FN and John Moses Browning had a long fruitful relationship, hence the large production of Hi-Power pistols there. His acolyte at FN, Dieudonné Saive, completed the design of the Hi-Power after his death, and later was responsible for the design of the Right Arm of the Free World in the Cold War era, the FN FAL.

Yeah, good stuff and getting that passed. Our gov vetoed allowing concealed carry on college campuses, which he legislature passed. Stupid retread Democrat Republicans.
I find it curious that there’s a difference between concealed carry and open carry.
Before the FAL he designed the FN-49, a very capable battle rifle that was used by several nations in various calibers.
Egypt had them in 8mm.
Venezuela in 7mm.
Argentina in 7.62x51

I wonder who came up with this title. It's good the Belgians are taking personal protection seriously when active insurgents are roaming around Europe but "Insecurity" while technically correct reeks of something like "small penis syndrome" or something.
Howabout something more realistic like "Islamic Terrorism Drives an Increase in Gun Permit Applications"? Just sayin'...
