GM responded that the ones sold in the US are made in OH.
Well, we need to see whether this is true.
Certain versions, including a hatchback model, are imported to the U.S. from a plant in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.
Nope. They admitted Trump was right, very quietly. GM’s statement:
“General Motors manufactures the Chevrolet Cruze sedan in Lordstown, Ohio. All Chevrolet Cruze sedans sold in the U.S. are built in GMs assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio. GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”
Trump did say “Mexican made model of Chevy Cruze” - not that all Cruzes were made in Mexico. GM has actually confirmed it - the important part from the above:
“GM builds the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback for global markets in Mexico, with a small number sold in the U.S.”
So, yeah. He’s right. There is a Mexican-made model of the Cruze that is being sold in the US. It’s the hatchback.
