If China wants the economic benefits of the USA THEY should shut down NK...makes sense to me...

Actually, our troops would do ok, and the South Korean troops are well armed and competent. That’s not saying we’d not take some casualties, but I’d not expect “heavy” US casualties before we could bring more force to bear.

The bigger problem is Seoul. Now, that too has been overstated: Most of Seoul is out of range of most of the North’s formidable artillery. However, if the North were to concentrate on civilian targets, the South could have as many as 30k or so mostly civilians killed: That’s not a pleasant prospect. Plus the North might use mustard gas - a horrifying prospect - but that’d be suicide for sure: The US would respond with nukes in force to a large scale chemical attack. (Our troops should (should) be ready for such an attack on themselves... Assuming Obummer hasn’t screwed that up too...)

Don't worry. Nothing will happen.

This is exactly what Trump tweeted months ago. He’s not saying this as a fact. He is basically questioning: change one thing and it says “China has been taking out massive amounts of money & wealth from the U.S. in totally one-sided trade, but won’t help with North Korea? Nice!” Trump wrote on Twitter
All I did was change the period to a question mark. He is simply setting China up for some real negotiations.

He is simply setting China up for some real negotiations.

Before doing that, he needs to show he has the will and means to make China pay if it does not play ball. Trade issue is one of the best means to do that.

I know there are just as many people upset over this development in U.S. as in China, but I believe this is the right way to proceed.

said, "if Truman would have let MacArthur do his fricking job, there would be no North Korea or Communist China"

Yeap, or if Chiang Kai-shek had the balls to fight the communist rather then run.

Speaking of Chiang Kai-Shek, we could build air bases in Taiwan in retaliation for the island they built in the South China Sea. If they want to negotiate about the island they built we can add Taiwan into the mix.

Imagine the egg on China’s face if Trump offers a much better deal than the Chinese to the NK’s on condition they start moving towards a more democratic society...he could do a “what do you have to lose” speech!

Yeah. “If.”

For better or for worse, “If.”

In “IF” lie ALL of the unrealized greatness of all mankind for all times.

Of course, on the other hand, imprisoned within “IF” are hordes of unrealized ghastly human evils.

If. At once the savior of mankind, and our damnation.

Perhaps it is best left unspoken.

There are a number of reefs off the coast of the US out side the 12 mile line. Making this fair game for any country to build bases on since they're in international waters.

It seems to me these reefs should be claimed by international laws.

There are probably as well different opinions in China on what to do with NK. But for sure nothing has happened during the last three American presidents, except that North Korea has continued advancing as a nuclear state...
