For months we've been writing about the staggering rise of violence in Chicago. As the year has worn on, the grim milestones have added up: the deadliest month in 23 years, the deadliest day in 13 years, 4,300 people shot...the list goes on and on. With five days left in 2016, official police records indicate that homicides in Chicago surged 57% YoY and shootings spiked 46%. To put those numbers into perspective, Chicago recorded over 20% more murders in 2016 than New York and Los Angeles combined, despite having a fraction of the population. Per the Chicago Tribune:
Through Dec. 26, 754 people were slain in Chicago compared with 480 during the same period last year, an increase of 57 percent, according to official Police Department statistics. The last time Chicago tallied a similar number of killings was in 1997, when 761 people were slain. Shooting incidents also jumped by 46 percent this year to 3,512 from 2,398, the statistics show.
What's more, crimes went up by double digits in nearly every major category, including criminal sexual assaults, robberies and thefts.
The city's homicides outpaced New York City and Los Angeles combined, even though their populations far exceed Chicago's 2.7 million people. According to official statistics through Dec. 18, the most recent publicly available, New York and Los Angeles had a combined 613 homicides, fewer than Chicago's total. In addition, there were a combined 2,306 shooting victims in the two cities, about half of Chicago's total.
The scale of the YoY surge in violence is unprecedented going back to 1960 and puts the city on track for its most violent year in nearly two decades.

What has Obama done but see to it that radical Islam spread and the USA and its allies are kicked in the ass at every single level? That’s his true “legacy”. This guy goes waaaaaay beyond worst POTUS ever. This is stuff an enemy of the USA does. How many families of cops killed in the line of duty has he ever called up? How many speeches has he given demanding respect of cops? Maybe he did, but I can’t recall one.
What hath Barky’s devils wrought?
The tone will begin to change, I believe, with Donald Trump. One part of it will be less turning of blind eyes by policing forces, of course, but that alone is not as good as what could be. The BLM minded (those who have been caught up in it, not those who instigated it knowing it was a manipulation) will need to understand that black lives matter on account of what God has done, and accepting that is the only true way to see prosperity of spirit, of an attitude that does not fall for the arid desert of the spirit that the devil stretches forth.

Barky has a poison attitude, no doubt about it, if there ever was a doubt.
It has not helped our black people one iota. It has cynically pitched to them the message that black lives matter for the purpose of wreaking vicious, wicked chaos!
I hope that black America wakes up and sees how viciously it has been used.

And I had another thought too.
It isn’t rednecks that were ever enemies of black people. You know the phrase “we should have picked our own damned cotton”? Well some did, and they were the rednecks of the south. Those slave owners foisted all that off on the slaves, who were the ancestors of our modern black people. They sat around drinking mint juleps and the like. They did not sweat like the rednecks. They were lazy WANNABE REDNECKS.

Windy, I pinged you just to get your take on the idea... does it make sense, or is it just so much whitey dreaming? Shall the South rise again after all, but now it’s the honest South?

Self-draining swamp.
Unfortunately, no. People will not go for utter anarchy. However the ad-hoc governances they come up with, will still “leave a lot to be desired.” We will get a hellhole that continues to radiate hell into the surrounding areas.

Well, my take is that the mint julep sipping slave owners were just ordinary Democrats. The hard working rednecks were the ancestors of the modern patriotic right of the South.
As for the blacks of that era, their very first votes in free elections were for Republicans, and they continued voting that way until FDR seduced them back onto the plantation.
Thankfully, that’s changing. I read a report yesterday which estimates that one in four young black men voted for Trump.
God told me that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.
