Democrats Have a Religion Problem
The Atlantic ^ | December 29, 2016 | Emma Green

There aren’t many people like Michael Wear in today’s Democratic Party. The former director of Barack Obama’s 2012 faith-outreach efforts is a theologically conservative evangelical Christian. He is opposed to both abortion and same-sex marriage, although he would argue that those are primarily theological positions, and other issues, including poverty and immigration, are also important to his faith.

During his time working for Obama, Wear was often alone in many of his views, he writes in his new book, Reclaiming Hope. He helped with faith-outreach strategies for Obama’s 2008 campaign, but was surprised when some state-level officials decided not to pursue this kind of engagement: “Sometimes—as I came to understand the more I worked in politics—a person’s reaction to religious ideas is not ideological at all, but personal,” he writes.

Precisely, they don’t mind worship. They just mind acknowledging their creator. That would mean that they are accountable! Can’t have that.

On the other hand, state, climate, diversity, anything else will do just fine.

“...is a theologically conservative evangelical Christian. He is opposed to both abortion and same-sex marriage...”

Why is he working for Obama?

Or the Dems?

Does not compute.

The Dims have TWO religion problems:

1. Being antagonistic to Orthodox Christians, Roman Catholics, and Evangelical and conservative Protestants, and having no understanding of our faith, doctrine, practice, and values.

2. Being all too ready to embrace America’s very worst enemy, islam!!!!

The Dims don’t even know that America’s very first foreign war was against the radical islamic terrorists of the late 18th and early 19th century, the Barbary States. It is because of this war that the US Navy and Marine Corps were founded.

THAT is the only “contribution” of islam to our country, NOT the balderdash that obama has been selling us!!!!

At the end, he basically acknowledges this, that Democrats have allowed politics to take the place of religion in their lives.

Because his "opposition" is the weakest imaginable tea: "he would argue that those are primarily theological positions, and other issues, including poverty and immigration, are also important to his faith."

They have a problem WITH religion.

Namely that they hate it.

Here’s a snippet:

Emma Green: Many people have noted that 81 percent of white evangelicals voted for Donald Trump in this election. Why do you think that was?

Michael Wear: It shows not just ineptitude, but the ignorance of Democrats in not even pretending to give these voters a reason to vote for them. We also need to have a robust conversation about the support or allowance for racism, misogyny, and Islamophobia in the evangelical tradition.

Here is the real answer:

Emma Green: Many people have noted that 81 percent of white evangelicals voted for Donald Trump in this election. Why do you think that was?

Because Democrats hate them and think they are worse and more evil than Islamic terrorists.

The ever growing nanny state and Democrat sponsored socialism seek to dethrone Jesus to make way for the 100% secular society where man is just another animal. They are getting what they want. Look at what goes on in malls now.

I do not see how a "theololgically conservative evangelical" can be a democrat in any sense.

This is the reason Democrats will eventually destroy themselves. Basically the liberals, who comprise the party, hate authority. Government is only there to serve and support whatever they want to do or be. It's basically just a bunch of people wanting to do their own thing.

I feel like asking them: how do they expect such a government to last?

They will be sympathetic toward religion only if it's practiced by non-whites. There, they have a patronizing attitude, of "opiate for the masses."

Read the article. It’s because we’re “Stronger Together”!

BALDERDASH!!!!

The only thing that unites them is their hatred of Trump & conservatism. ("The enemy of my enemy is my friend.") Left to themselves, they will either dissipate because of lack of central leadership or turn on each other. Psychopaths/narcissists can't live with other psychopaths/narcissists.

A “religion problem” doesn’t even scratch the surface when counting the problems odumbo has already created and I expect he will continue doing so once he gets “shit canned”.

I agree - my first reaction also.
I'll read further down the posts for other insights, but my guess is that he really is not a "theological conservative evangelical Christian". He might like to apply that label to himself, however I doubt he reveres and fears God.
Otherwise he'd flee the company of the wicked.

Psalm 1, Verse 1:
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
