Inquiries from Donald Trumps transition team to federal agencies about their work on hot-button issues like climate change and 'violent extremism' -- and about the staffers involved -- have spurred questions over what the incoming administration has planned for those programs.
His team, in the roughly seven weeks since the election, has posed such questions to the departments of Energy, State and Homeland Security.
Critics of President-elect Trump have suggested the inquiries are a sign his administration intends to gut key programs and punish the staffers involved. Republican defenders, though, say these concerns are overblown.

Note to the Federal Bureaucrats. You work FOR the President. Something both you, and the Fake Media, seem to forget.
When you weaponize the federal bureaucracy but your opponents win anyway, you ought not be surprised when things get uncomfortable for the bureaucrats.
well said Ben
Send a letter asking about a sensitive subject and sit back and watch who yells the loudest about it! Then focus your efforts on them!
“The thing is, Bob, it’s not that I’m lazy, it’s that I just don’t care.”
Or
Many if not all of these worthless pos’s have left an electronic trail of their criminal activities or ?!
If Google can’t find those digital trails, Trump will have enough former NSA people to track down their criminal or anti American activities.
As you noted, it may be time for many of them to go a no extradition treaty foreign nation. Those nations will welcome them until their money runs out.
tart with a one third trimming.
That’s ~650K bureacrats whose houses are going on the market, and I guess 500K in DC. Then add the 100K or so lobbyists, consultant groups, zero/HRC groupies in general, and we’re looking at 3/4 million destitute Leftists X4 when you count their families; the nascent City-States can’t absorb 1/10 of their numbers.
Let that sink in for a sec. THREE million leftists, out in the cold, just like that.
LOL, the casting of that film, not to mention the writing, was brilliant.
“When you weaponize the federal bureaucracy...”
That they did, and all the bureaucrats played the dedicated civil servants, making believe they were good little boys and girls working for the benefit of the people.
One hopes that they scatter like cockroaches when their actions and antics are brought to light.
IMHO
The Associated Press contributed to this report.Well, that certifies this as fake news, as well as the references to the LA Slimes in paragraph #9 and Reuters in paragraph #19.
Thanks for your reply.
Trump’s people will find a gold mine of the evil deeds of the Obama thugs on Free Republic, thanks to good posters like your.
FR has documented Clintoon probable criminal activities go back for for close to two decades.
So, what?! The President-elect's transition team has every right to inquire. And the new President not only has every right but is obligated to shut down illegal programs and punish staffers conducting them.
If this is a sign it's a great sign!
Would I do that?
Best movie ever. Has lost some of its charm since we retired and don’t live that life every day. No more TPS Reports.
These fed employee thugs should be squashed like the cockroaches they all are.
every political appointment that was moved to staff with in the last 9 months and word the directive to do it that way across the board so that when they protest all he way up to the supreme court witch they will do Trump can rightfully have the supreme court rulings on his side. then move through the agencies looking for any use of the agency as a weapon against political opponent and fire all agents that were involved that are not cooperative with giving evidence to the politicization of the agency.
You did remember the cover sheet. Right?
