Nice to see this kid getting a fair chance finally. It was a disgrace he went undrafted a couple years ago after setting the NCAA record of 3 straight 2,000 yard seasons! One has to wonder how a guy with those stats goes undrafted...although pretty obvious why. He then led all running backs in preaseason that year after being signed by Detroit and sat as a third stringer regardless. Go ZZ.

He did well, though he had fewer chances in the second half. Hope he keeps taking full advantage of what the defense gives him.

It’s a good story, but the Lions run game is a joke.

Are you saying this guy is the best RB the Lions can find?

Was pulling for Cowboys, but this kid had a good night.

Cowgirls have one of the weakest schedules in the NFL. They will be bounced in the first game of the playoffs.

Typical stereotype about a certain type of running back who’s just as fast as many other backs. The story says “He isn’t going to be running away from anyone or juking anyone out of their shorts” I remember Zenner running 75 yards for a touchdown against a Top 10 or so ranked Missouri team that had future NFL defensive players. .. Christian McCaffrey was the best running back in big-time college football the last two years. He had hardly been recruited out of high school. He would have never got the chance at Stanford except that his dad was a Stanford star and Pro Bowl receiver for the Broncos, and that he had the grades to get into Stanford. .. Now, he’s expected to be a first-round draft pick, but some of the “experts” are saying he should be a slot receiver in the pros. There’s only one reason people would say that, because he has excellent speed, vision, strength, cutting ability, etc.

This reminds me a lot of another player - Jordy Nelson. He had to walk on to a college team, and still doesn’t get a lot of ‘press’ as one of the premier receivers in the NFL.

Zack has also been accepted into medical school. He had deferred his entrance but is continuing to do research while playing for the Lions! One of the Detroit papers had a feature on him in the past week! He’s just a terrific kid!

I don’t watch anymore. after Kaperdick I pulled out. The sport is not racially diverse. It has no real team concept. It is just a bunch of steroid freaks making more than the coach. People really need a new false idol now. TV viewership as plummeted because of what I just said by 1/4th!! I am out— DO NOT CARE!!

Re: “It was a disgrace he went undrafted...”

I disagree.

His position - running back - is the reason.

Running backs have very short careers because that position generates more injuries than any other position on the team, so NFL teams are reluctant to spend draft choices on RBs.

In 2015, the year Zenner signed, only one running back was selected in the First Round, and only 17 RBs were selected in the entire Draft.

Second, Zenner played at a small school.

16 of the 17 RB Draftees played at Division I schools.

I live on the West Coast and rarely get a chance to see Detroit play.

I was shocked by Detroit’s offensive line.

Detroit QB Matt Stafford was under pressure on EVERY passing play, even when Dallas just rushed three linemen.

Either Dallas has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, or Detroit, 9-5 coming into the game, was way overrated.

Meh. Even better was the fact that Dallas held Detroit scoreless for 40 minutes, from late in the first half on.
