New Zealand meeting calls into question White House narrative on role in UN vote
The Jerusalem Post ^ | 12/24/2016 | Michael Wilner

The US publicly told its partners on the Security Council that it would consider each draft resolution on its merit, but says that it never indicated how it would vote– up until the vote itself.

WASHINGTON -- The Obama administration insists it was disciplined in its silence over how it would ultimately vote on resolutions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that ultimately reached the UN Security Council, where it holds veto power.

Hours before such a vote was set to take place– on a resolution condemning Israel's settlement activity– one senior administration official told The Jerusalem Post that the president's team "was not involved in formulating the resolution, nor have we promoted it."

"We have not communicated to any UN Security Council members how the United States would vote if the resolution comes before the UN Security Council," the official said.

But the Israeli government has publicly accused the Obama administration of "colluding" with its drafters to ensure that the right resolution with just the right language came forward for a vote. The US publicly told its partners on the Security Council that it would consider each draft resolution on its merit, but says that it never indicated how it would vote– up until the vote itself, which took place on Friday afternoon. The US abstained, allowing the resolution to pass.

The Israeli government provided no clear evidence to back its claim that the Obama administration worked to promote the effort. But one public engagement by Secretary of State John Kerry last month may offer some clues as to how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government reached its conclusion. (Israel, Palestinian ambassadors to UN give speeches before vote on settlement resolution)

Kerry visited New Zealand on November 13, shortly after the US presidential election, and took part in "deep" conversation over how its government– which holds a non-permanent seat on the Security Council until the end of this calendar year– could engage in a UN-related initiative on the Middle East peace process.

"It is a conversation we are engaged in deeply and we've spent some time talking to Secretary Kerry about where the US might go on this," New Zealand's foreign minister, Murray McCully, told local reporters after the meeting, according to the New Zealand Herald. "It is something that is still in play."

"I think there are some very important decisions that the Obama administration is going to have to make in its lame-duck period on this issue," he added.

Egypt drafted the resolution that ultimately condemned Israel's settlement enterprise as an illegal operation contrary to the pursuit of peace with the Palestinians. The resolution also condemned incitement to violence by the Palestinian authorities.

The Egyptians coordinated on the language with the Palestinian Authority, whose chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, met with Kerry at the State Department on December 12. Israeli officials believe it was at this meeting that Kerry first relayed the president's willingness to abstain.

The White House said on Friday that US President Barack Obama had not decided how to proceed until hours before the vote.

Last minute, however, the Egyptian government pulled its own draft– due to pressure from the Israeli government, according to Western diplomatic sources, and after President-elect Donald Trump called publicly and privately for the resolution to be scrapped.

The draft was then dusted off by New Zealand, which formally introduced the resolution for a vote.

Congress plays the primary role in allocation of funding to Israel.

But Obama himself, as well as the filthy Obamunists in his regime, are inveterate liars.

Clever of the Obama Brotherhood to keep New Zealand in reserve in case Egypt folded under Trumpian pressure, which they did. You can always count on Britain and its commonwealth nations to hate on Jews.

“Lol. 40 billion is a fig leaf to make a group of Americans happy. Maybe their loyalties lie elsewhere and maybe next time Israel should get nothing. “

Maybe Israel shouldn’t share with the world it’s advances in medicine, technology, agriculture. Etc. 40 billion for that and the NY Jewish vote is cheap when compared to what the rest of the world is doing to help humanity.

Clive’s a loon, but he’s our loon.

I tend to agree with his post, #41 was it?

Nobody here owes anyone an explanation.

Israeli ambassador to New Zealand recalled in protest at UN vote role

Foreign minister Murray McCully defends Wellington’s decision which he says should have come as no surprise to Jewish state

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/24/israeli-ambassador-to-new-zealand-recalled-in-protest-at-un-vote-role

Israel has withdrawn its ambassador to Wellington after the New Zealand government co-sponsored a controversial UN resolution criticising settlements in the occupied territories.

New Zealand joined Senegal, Malaysia and Venezuela in bringing the resolution before the security council despite a huge diplomatic effort by Israel to stymie the move.

There was applause in the UN chamber when the resolution – the first by the security council in more than 38 years to condemn Israel over its settlement policy – was passed 14-0.

Has anyone in the dishonest media (but I repeat myself) asked that Demon Rat HACK Debbie Blabbermouth Schmuck why she supports a party and administration that so blatantly hates Jews?

Precise Analogy: Imagine that these refugees being imported to the US become financially supported by a coalition of Arab nations, then form an insurgency and spend the next 40 years commiting terrorist acts, they produce nothing, they contribute nothing, they just kill our innocent civilians, then the US government tries for 40 years to appease them, giving in and giving them half of every state. They do nothing with the land except use it as a territory to stage attacks from. So some our citizens develop the land for good use. Then along comes a coalition of America Haters known as the UN and pass a resolution defending the Islamic Jihadis right to hate the Americans for no reason and not share the land they do not deserve, but then the Russians gave the US 40 billion as consolation

then along comes some guy on the internet saying "but the russians gave America 40 billion"

History is littered with the ashes of Jew haters, they don't even have a reason for hating jews, but the evil voice from Satan continues to whisper in their evil ears,...... stop listening to the whisper Ethan Clive, think objectively and go towards the light

If no one owes anyone an explanation then I suppose they can just throw out whatever inflamatory jibberish they choose.

Everyone is good for something, in Clive's case it is that he is a perfect example of inability to connect facts with a logical conclusion, and lack of respect for others

I had no idea countries like Malaysia, Senegal or New Zealand were in a position to sponsor/push an agenda like this one, or Venezuela for that matter.

This was obviously Plan B in case Egypt pulled their request.

Hopefully, President Trump will drop NZ from the visa waiver program. That is a privledge and based on their backing of the kenyan’s UN tantrum they are certainly not a friend of the US.

Yep, this definitely paints New Zealand in a new, and disgusting, light. You won't see me supporting them any time soon.

It's too bad the "L" word (no, not that one, the one we're talking about here, "LIAR") isn't used in conjunction with Obama.

I think I read somewhere that Israel is recalling ambassadors from all over the world. Is that correct? If so, this will create further isolation for them. Not a good thing, to be sure, but just in line with what the Bible says would happen.

Kerry turned on his own country during the Paris negotiations. The wannabe with three fake PH’s sided with the damn VC. He is a commie who hates America. He and Obama have much in common.
