But what puts a stop to mass shootings? Usually the arrival on the scene of somebody else with a gun.
I used this argument numerous times but modified to, "In a mass shooting, the first calls are to people with guns to come and make it stop.

"In a mass shooting, the first calls are to people with guns to come and make it stop. When seconds count the cops are only minutes away. They are not task with preventing crime---They will be glad to write a report that you can turn over to your insurance company, if you are still alive.
I carry a weapon because I don't have as far to travel when I call myself and I am always on self protection duty.
