Even if he does that, it’s a drop in the bucket. We need to get federalism back in play. I grew up in Idaho before the EPA but the Kennedy family used the state as its personal playground, getting huge areas set aside as wilderness areas and such, mainly so they could use it a couple weeks a year when they came to vacation. Afterwards they returned to their Massachusetts broad tax base while we had to cope with the federal government’s ownership of our state. So long as the federal government assumes the power to control land use from afar, whether through monument and park designations, EPA, Army Corps of Engineers, or whatever, we are at its mercy.
