McConnell: ‘I didn’t think President Trump had a chance of winning’ (interesting admissions)
McClatchy ^ | 20 Dec 16 | DAVID LIGHTMAN

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was surprised on election night: He didn’t see President-elect Donald Trump winning or the Senate staying in Republican hands.

“I honestly thought we wouldn’t hold the U.S. Senate,” the Kentucky Republican told Kentucky Educational Television’s ... “I thought we’d come up short, and I didn’t think President Trump had a chance of winning.”

The Senate victories were “really something,” McConnell said, “but it never occurred to me he (Trump) might be able to win as well.” ...

“It was a lot of feeling among just ordinary people...that the current administration didn’t care about them,” he said, “and Trump was able to convey, ...a message from a billionaire who lives in Manhattan a genuine concern (to those) who feel kind of left out.”

I agree. Trump is the most active president-elect I have ever witnessed. Perhaps others have been so, but I sure don’t recall even reading about such a thing.

So far as Obama is concerned. It’s a 50/50 proposition, but I do think he’ll premptively pardon Hillary.

I had hoped Giuliani would be AG and that Sessions would be the new Senate Majority leader.

Trump made up some of the gap by hiring McConnell’s wife, but I don’t think McConnell has anything like a loyalty streak.

Although he did hold out on the Scotus justice. He gets kudos from me on that one.

Ann Coulter catalogued the Trump nay sayers in her book, In Trump We Trust. There were hundreds of them.

What I get a kick out of, is these blithering idiots who couldn’t predict water was wet before the election, but now have the audacity to offer up an opinion why things turned out like they did.

Stupid to the max before the election
Smart as can be afterwards? NO! Get these jackasses off my screen.

Mitch will never admit this, but Trump is the only reason we kept the Senate. If we had someone like Romney or Bush running, it would have been lost IMO.

McConnell is not as bad as Graham.

For all practical purposes, Graham IS a democrat except for his neocon streak...all of which he shares with Clinton.

The Turtle ought to be less careless with his thoughts. Someone with star power could beat him in Ky. He’s been lucky to get tomato cans like Grimes & Weinberg.

That’s because the Turtle and Ryan are out of touch with middle
class hard working Americans. And have been for decades.

Before anyone gets on their high horse his belief was shared by most people. I would say that FR had more believers in victory that any other group.

Many of us had for months claimed that his victory was a sure thing and were roundly laughed at because of that.

McConnell should not be attacked for exemplifying what probably most Trump supporters believed as well.

All Politicians are out of touch and no longer represent the PEOPLE. They represent Donors and that is what has to get fixed.

1-NO PACs
2-NO Corporate or Foreign Donations
3-Individuals only limit to $1000 per person per campaign

Someone who doesn’t believe his team will win has no business being its leader.

Probably the most profound thing that will be said on this thread.
