Wipe it off the books and let the free market work

In addition, the repeal bill scrapped the individual and employer mandate penalties...

Anything they pass that does not do that is nothing but bluster. This is the main requirement. Without it, there really is no Obamacare.

What are you going to do about the 11.3 million people who are part of the current Obamacare system?

This monster was built over years. It not going to be done away with by a simple vote. It was purposefully devised to be hard to get rid of. The Dems even tried to put in a provision that it could NOT be repealed by a future Congress.

This is monster is not going to die on day one. It is going to be difficult to kill it all and then we are going to have to plow the ground and salt it just to make sure.

This election Americans were clear on:

1) end obozocare or, politicians, we will end you
2) the era of PC is over
3) the MSM has no credibility and thus no power
4) celebrities have no power

The senate will be the sticking point. Too many RINO’s for such a marginally small majority.

It’s a tough one. Obamacare has many tentacles and it’s worked parts of itself into the minutiae of every aspect of healthcare and health insurance.

They’re going to have to start with the most egregious parts first and start digging to ferret out the rest. It’s incredibly complex and horribly written. It won’t be 100% undone on the first pass.

I’m afraid that it will be difficult to “unwind the watch” and reset things to how they were before. The potential for unintended consequences is quite real - and don’t tell me “Just repeal every word of it” if that leads to a quagmire and disastrous upset to peoples healthcare that sentiment turns toward the Democrats and we lose the House and/or Senate in two years. If that happens, you can forget about anything but trying to put Obamacare back in place.

We have to do this but we also have to do it right. If that means going slower than some anomymous message board commenters would prefer - tough.

It was purposefully devised to be hard to get rid of.

Bingo. It was designed with a multitude of tentacles entrenched in numerous agencies and institutions for this reason. Ever try to pull up a sapling to get all the roots out of the ground? Very difficult to do.

Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

But seriously, their plan can stay in place until the next enrollment period. In my case, I have not had health care insurance since Jan 1, 2014 (the day Obamacare was implemented). I also don’t plan on getting health care insurance.

But health care insurance is not the government’s job. This needs to go away by the next open enrollment period.

All the more reason for the caucus to impose party discipline by subtle threats of downgraded or eliminated committee assignments, and even expulsion from the GOP caucus.

Add to that the pieces forcing all plans to match what the government is selling or have to pay through the nose.

Yep. I could see at the time that they thought we’d cave even if we had the votes because it would be too painful to get rid of.

Well, I’ve got a message for the politicians: If you can’t make the hard decisions necessary to kill this beast immediately, you won’t have the brass ones necessary to pass and enforce the austerity measures necessary to keep this country from collapsing into MadMaxville.

For me, their handling of the removal of Obamacare will tell me how much gold, ammo and long term food I need to buy (if any) for the collapse.

There has been so much speculation of when and how the Republicans are going to deal with Obamacare that I’m just going to wait to see what happens. I’m not going to get worked up over stories saying they won’t do it or are going to delay. Let’s see what happens.

Based on the GOPe’s track record, I understand your skepticism.

Unfortunately Politics operates in the real world of competing interests made up of millions of voters. You still have to get your legislation passed before you can effectively do anything.

This is actually good news. The GOPe dogma for the last 6 years of “we cannot do anything because Obama will veto it”. That they are finally being forced into action is a step in the right direction.

This is monster is not going to die on day one.

Nice to see some common sense on the subject. The truth is, the insurance carriers spent 3 years and MILLIONS of $$$ in the run up to zerocare going full on. That fact alone says that it will take time - 2-3 years, in my estimation - to bring it under full control.

I laugh at those that suggest we "just go back to what we had before!". Lol. NOT gonna happen. And if it did go that way, to be honest, that would be the one best method of bringing about single payer. Most folks don't know what all goes into each year for an insurance carrier, from the regulations to other requirements.

And that doesn't mention the individual state regulators, actuary #'s and so much more.

Yep. This is why I believe the way they handle the removal of Obamacare will be a lens to the near future, and what steps I need to take, if any, to survive in that future.

One solution that is never mentioned by anyone is the following:

Allow taxpayers to write off the cost of their premiums and medical expenses on their taxes. Or maybe just the premiums. Employer provided plans are not taxed so why not allow people who buy their own insurance the same benefits. After all, it is only fair.

Heck, the IRS now knows exactly how much everyone spends (or doesn't spend) on health insurance premiums — thanks to Obamacare.

Lets call the Democrat's bluff. Do they truly care about Americans?
