$100,000 wind turbines to create $1.39 in electricity daily(clean NRG boom)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Waterfront Park turbines are expected to generate $1.39 per day and therefore about $41.58 per month in electricity. The information was incorrect in this story.

PORT ANGELES — Three windmill-like turbines loom motionless over the city of Port Angeles’ new Waterfront Park.

The $107,516 spires stand immobile more than two months after they were erected and more than a year after the city council approved them.

Once they are working to generate electricity, they will produce so little power — $1.50 worth of electricity a month in savings — that at least one council member is regretting her decision to purchase them.

DOH! Maybe the city council should have consulted some of us FReepers before giving the go ahead on this project. So, I'm feeling lazy this morning and am not going to figure the ROI date for these motionless hunks of crap. Of course if they're idle, it may take a little longer.

So it’ll take over 197 years to pay for itself provided it needs no maintenance. And just how many birds will it kill?

Of course we have been telling the libtards they are morons for decades. They wouldn’t listen so now they get to find out for themselves.

BEST ELECTION EVER!

These morons spent $107K to power 31 light bulbs.

That little factoid alone should be on the campaign sign of every opposing candidate at the next election.

I’ve seen city councils do stupid stuff, but this is beyond insane.

It’s safety lighting for a park. So if someone wants to darken the park, it seems pretty easy to tangle each turbine with some rope one night. The park will be dark for months because I’m sure the council removed the lights from the power grid.

Ignore ROI. It’s the good feelings we’re after.

Lol-but they are art and they weren’t meant to be green-lol. That is the same with all the wind farms.

From the article (I did not edit anything):

The turbines will produce about $24,145 of electricity over the depreciable 25-year life of the equipment, he estimated.
The return on investment is over 50 years.
“Considering the harsh [salty] environment, the equipment may not last 25 years,” Shere said Friday in an email.

The scary thing is that we are actively killing off the truly reliable sources of power while we are forcing everyone to adopt the much less reliable sources of power.

If wind and solar even made sense, I wouldn’t care. As long as when I flip the light switch, the lights come on and do so cheaply. The cheaper the better. But they are not even considering cost and availability in their insane drive for clean energy.

Pretty stupid and they are gambling with our future.

Transmission maintenance will eat that up very quick.

This story is one reason why I detest wind turbines—they are highly maintenance-intensive and generate way less power than promised.

And once again the Bald Eagle will be listed as ‘Threatened’ - not - as that would negate these bird and bat killing machines utility.

Yet, they are probably better than solar panels for available power?

not even considering cost and availability in their insane drive for clean energy.

Let’s say this about that! Isn’t it a bit insane to even consider that our energy is NOT clean. False premise right out of the gate. Liberal insanity on display.

Oh, it’s a 1.50 per day, not per month. That makes it economical. lOL

Is it possible that, like has been shown with some red light cameras, there is some bribery of municipal officials going on? These city officials are dancing awfully fast. Not accusing, just wondering.

Excellent point!

Glass is half full: Liberals are ignorant zealots.

Glass is half empty: Liberals want to drive us all into poverty and dependence so that they have leverage and control over the us.
