One Georgia police officer was fatally shot on Wednesday morning, and another one is in "very, very critical" condition, authorities say.

The officer who was killed is a member of the Americus Police Department, according to WXIA, and the severely wounded officer is a public safety officer with Georgia Southwestern State University.

Whether or not he ends up dead, we’ll have to listen to endless reports about his unhappy childhood and how he was driven to murder the police officer. I can’t wait for The Kenyan to leave office so that maybe this sort of thing won’t happen so often. I’m reminded of how the Russian authorities would handle it: they’d kill the perp and everyone in his immediate family, thus creating an effective deterrent to other violent young men. Not saying we should do this, of course, just saying it works. No telling how many future murder victims could be saved.
