Palo Alto Apple Store Patched Up After Smash & Grab Robbery
CBS ^ | 6 Dec 16 | CBS Staff

Posted on 12/06/2016 4:58:32 PM PST by SkyPilot

Customers once again filled the Apple store in Palo Alto, but a large 40-foot section of the iconic front glass wall was boarded up after a smash & grab robbery Sunday.

A damaged SUV was sitting in the police department’s impound area after being used as a battering ram in the crime.

“Witnesses reported seeing up to 20 people running from the scene,” Palo Alto Police Lieutenant Zach Perron told KPIX 5.

Photos of the scene were put out on social media, showing the SUV in

front of the shattered glass facade.

Police say it appeared to be a coordinated attack with drivers and accomplices and on foot converging on the store all at once.

“They went inside the store, ran around for about 45 seconds and grabbled phones and laptops. Whatever they could find and then came out and scattered in all directions,” Perron said.

An hour later police arrested two adult suspects who were still in the downtown area – 19-year-old Shaquin Ferbuson, and 18-year-old Erica White of Oakland, plus two juveniles, and booked them all into custody.

Police also recovered another suspect’s car near a parking garage, filled with stolen Apple merchandise.

They are still looking for the other suspects.

It was the sixth robbery at the Apple store in Palo alto in the last six months, and one of several robberies at apple stores throughout the bay area this holiday season.”

I was a first-hand witness to someone doing this in the early 1990’s.

Told my friend to have someone call the police. The car drove off and nothing was stolen because they saw me, see them.

When the 2nd officer arrived he actually asked ... if I did it. Didn’t ask what happened first, no just right into stupidity.

Good grief. I asked him, do you think I’d have somebody call you guys and wait around for you? Good gosh.

Our country is more than leaning toward third world country status. What is it they do to those caught stealing. . .a finger or two sliced off or something like that for each infraction?

Just for gadgets, on full bellies, with the power and electric working.

Just wait to see how ferals behave when they are starving in the dark and the taps are dry.

It’s a type of burglary that has been increasingly common here in the Bay Area and I gather around the country. Brazen.

Gentrify the hell out of East Palo Alto, and this problem goes away. Any Apple stores in Oakland?

Since it’s a burden on the local police in largely sympathetic cities (I mean the cities are sympathetic as are some police commissioners and not the individual policemen who try and survive while doing as much as they can) I think this will increase dramatically. After all, it’s not hurting the hood, no jobs lost there and it rewards the thugs of BLM more substantially more than a smash and grab at the locally owned liquor store. Yep, much more violence will teach us the foolishness of not electing Hillary.

I’m torn on this one, yes it’s an awful crime but against a city, a company, that cuddles and panders these low lifes, the BLM’s, the sjws...

Just having a lot of trouble working up a whole lot of sympathy.

Now you know why lots of gun stores have concrete-filled bollards placed in front of them.

The concrete posts help for keeping vehicles from smashing into the doors. But I’ve seen at least one video where they used the vehicle and a chain to pull the security gate down without having to get past the posts. So, it helps in one type of break-in but not necessarily the other.

Indeed. One local gun store they tried to ram a vehicle through; made quite a mess.

And yet some people ask me why I prep whenever allowed to. You can see this thing coming down the tracks;

Some areas will be affected more than others; however distribution points often are still in major cities.
