We realized too late that Germany was a bulwark protecting Western Civilization. We demilitarized, divided, and punished them, destroyed their nationalism, and turned them into another Sweden. Instead of deservedly punishing Nazi criminals, we destroyed the strongest country in Europe, and now we can’t figure out why they act like sheep.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if the USA of that time had told Germany it looks like they got a problem with an evil hypnotist, and we’d be glad to snap our fingers.

One could argue that the Germans of the late 1930s were also sheep; perhaps the German people are very good at doing what their government tells them to, whether it is making war or placating radical Islam...just following orders.
