A man who authorities said shouted go back to your country at a Muslim woman wearing a religious head covering may have picked the wrong target: a decorated New York City police officer.
Officer Aml Elsokary, a New York City native who joined the force after the Sept. 11 attacks, said she was off duty in her Brooklyn neighborhood Saturday when she encountered a man yelling and pushing her 16-year-old son.
When she intervened, she said, the man referenced the Islamic State group and threatened to slit her throat.

I think we probably made the wrong pick for an officer.
Ban all, remove all, never let any in agaim.
I always believed the uniform was a piece of clothing where all are the same.
Moslim women are the point of the spear culturally for Islam
This guy is going to suffer greatly for the sake of Affirmative Action.
Pray this criminality is lessened under a Trump Administration.

Not sure what you are intending to say there. But it seems the woman was not in uniform and some dumbass yelled at her. Not nice, but it shouldn’t be any type of a crime - “hate” or otherwise.
She’s also claiming the guy threatened to cut her throat. But that was when she “intervened”. If she’s making any of that up, will she get in trouble?
Her religion tells her to lie. Not that Muslims need any encouragement.
Are there witnesses, video, or just her word?
I wonder what her decoration was for?
Maybe it is not a good idea to walk up to a police officer and threaten to slit their throat.
You just might get arrested.
If that’s what happened. One word against another, or so the AP article is claiming.
And presuming it did happen, “hate” charges are a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause.
“Are there witnesses, video, or just her word?”

From my read of the linked-to article, I think it’s just her say so.
OK thank you. The reason I asked is because I had a muslim woman years ago who started an argument with my wife, and threatened to call the cops. It was only until I called her bluff that she backed off, but she did make a bunch of lies up about us to the security guard.
Also regardless of religion or anything I have found some cops , actually a lot of cops lie to further their own agenda. We had one in the neighborhood who used to get his next door neighbor in trouble when the guy never did anything.
One night that guy was over at a friends house where I was, and the police came on the say so of the cop neighbor who said the guy had been threatening to him.
The cops always believed him, because he was a cop.
Not sure what ever happened as we were in the process of moving, and have moved since.
Please mark fake news as such in the headline.
(Follow up to comment 16: to be fair, the Bolshevist scum who charged a random passerby with a hate crime [probably for merely being a white male] is probably not fake...)
Yeah, unfortunately a police uniform isn’t a guarantee of honesty anymore than a clergy collar. And if a person has a higher authority (e.g. Islam) than the laws/rules they’re charged with enforcing, there’s a conflict of interest at play. Also, as you noted, self-interest can color some of a person’s doings.
Even with out the hate crime enhancement, they guy apparently pushed a 14 year old kid and threatened to slit a police officer’s throat.
That should be enough, without the hate crime attached, to keep the accused in the legal system for quite some time.
She is one in a million. I am sure she is a US citizen and puts our constitution first. We don’t follow sharia here. EVER!!
