China has accomplished hyper growth supplying Western consumers with inexpensive goods and attracting Western investment to obtain necessary technology, but it has hardly played by the established rules and norms of global trade. It has subsidized exports, manipulated its currency and engaged in other abusive practices.

No, China must prepare for a showdown with Trump.
They know this and now they know that we know this.
This economist must be a professor of “obvious studies”.
What we need is a catalog of USA companies, their products and on line access perhaps.
It may sound ironic, but I believe one of the wisest first moves here is to pray for God to bless China.

Look at it from the common Chinese person’s viewpoint for a moment. They’ve been serving Communist slave bosses, who want to flaunt Chinese riches, by producing stuff for the USA under slavery conditions. Many of the oxen are muzzled as they are treading out the grain.
Don’t you think God has a better deal for them? And for America, to quit being a party to that?
Although I wouldn’t say China is at the tipping point quite yet, certainly Christianity is increasing in China. It’s actually a big movement now. (I suspect that you are well aware.) God’s blessing would certainly help them a great deal. And us.

“Showdown with China” a a continuing drama that goes on every day, and every day brings still more challenges. There is no “master agreement and done” when dealing with China, it is arm-wrestling with an octopus.
And a pretty sly and scheming octopus, to boot.

Seems like it’s never to late to offer advise you can point to when Trump accomplishes his task. Then you can say he listened to you. Yes, he listened 18 months before the advice was given.
