On Sunday the people of Austria will vote one again for the new President of the country and the choice has come down to an anti-mass migration populist and a left wing globalist.
This years Austrian presidential election has been the longest in the history of Austrias second republic and is finally coming to an end on Sunday after controversy and scandal. The Austrian voters have two choices for their new head of state, the anti-mass migration populist Norbert Hofer of the Freedom Party or the Left wing pro-European Union candidate Alexander Van der Bellen.
The first round of the election in April saw a massive shake up in the Austrian political scene as Mr. Hofer won the vote with Van der Bellen coming in second. The election was notable for excluding the two establishment parties, the Austrian Peoples Party and the Socialist Party from the second round.
The second round a month later was too close to call on election night with a slight lead for Norbert Hofer. After the counting of the postal votes, Alexander Van der Bellen was proclaimed President by a mere 31,000 votes. The victory was not to last as investigations and inquiries from the FPÖ showed serious discrepancies regarding the counting and handling of the postal ballots and the vote was annulled by the courts.
Though the initial rerun of the was scheduled for October 2nd, the same day as the Hungarian migrant referendum, faulty postal ballot envelopes delayed the vote until this Sunday, December 4th.

Big election. Praying for Austria.
Crush the leftist self-loathing f*ckers
I hope they choose wisely.
And not poorly.
Socialism and collectivism does work. In a very small group. Think about your family and any sports team you’ve ever played on. It’s all for one and one for all because it’s a small group that sticks together for a common purpose.
It may even work in small countries like Norway, Sweden where everyone has a common national heritage.
but you cannot have both a generous welfare state and open borders. They have to pick one. And only one.
Amen.

A family and a sports team are examples of benevolent dictatorship not socialism or collectivism.
the difference between the best players salary and the worst players salary would prove otherwise.
Your father would proud and happy if you made more in a month then he made in a year.
I believe Italy is voting for something on Sunday as well. Wow seems people are not happy campers living under the globalism umbrella! Brexit, Amerexit and now these two countries are also on the brink of kicking globalism in the butt!!
But wouldn’t I by definition of socialism have to spread out my earnings till we all have the same?
BTW, pop was born in Italy in 1920. Came here at 6.
Making more in a month depends on what year you want to use :)
I think marriage is the ULTIMATE form of socialism :)
Unless you marry a money grubber or are one! :)
The word Populism is just wrong. These parties believe that a country has borders and the right to enforce them, that citizens have made commitments to their country and deserve preference over foreigners and non-citizen residents. The proper name for these beliefs is Patiotism.
On Sunday Austria To Choose Between MUSLIMS or AUSTRIANS.
I Agree. A capitalist can choose to run his company how he wants.
I started and ran several businesses that have now been owned by the employees that worked years for me..
They are all doing well as am I.
But I also believe a socialist system does not allow capitalist business to grow in the same way ..... Capitalism always Trumps and allows you the freedom to do as you wish.
EXACTAMUNDO!!
The opposite of globalism is nationalism, not populism.
C’mon, Austria! Join Hungary and help lead your continent out of the abyss!
Patriotism! You are absolutely correct.
If they follow the news, Erdogan’s threat to send even more walking time bombs will mean a victory for Austrians.
More winning, not sure I can handle ...
