Thanks to both of you for your responses.

Your word "retention" is a better choice than my "confiscated".

However, was surfing the other evening and found a discussion about LE taking possession of weapons used in shootings. Some owners reportedly had to wait years for a return and others ultimately had to decide whether to hire an attorney to formally demand return. Cost and time analysis sometimes indicated it was cheaper to just write it off.

Bottom line of that discussion: it is prudent to carry the cheapest most reliable weapon you have and leave your good stuff at home.

Not every one would agree with that approach, but there are some models in the <$400 range that would fit that bill.

You’re welcome. I see you’re in GA, so not some northeast blue enclave, so things are probably still pretty 2A friendly there. Although NM is blue, it’s rural and gon control doesn’t fly well here.
