Using fake news against opposing views

What worries me the most about fake news, isn’t that it’s fake, it’s that it’s being used by the left to try to silence opposing views.

Take for example a story reported by the Los Angeles Times that included a professor who put together a Google document of “false, misleading, clickbait-y and satirical ‘news sources’” to help people “cleanse their newsfeeds of misinformation.”

The only problem with the list, was it included real news sites of which the professor simply didn’t agree. Conservative blogs, including Red State and The Blaze, were on the list, as was more centrist, but GOP-leaning Independent Journal Review (IJR). None of those sites are fake — they often just peddle in the real news purposely not covered by the mainstream media.

Well Washington Post this is the way I will write my article according to the way I see what you said...

My views are that Trump was the candidate for President from the first day he announced, the American people, being tired of the lies, the people that represents them steal and cheat, and then the Kenyan pResident does everything he can to ruin our Country, not his mind you, OURS, and you go along with all this crap and lie to all of us...

So there lies your problems...you lie, you lie when the truth would sound better and yet you think you can get away with it because you think we the American People are stupid enough to believe your lies and the government lies...WRONG...

This is why your being shown the door, that will hit you in your butt on the way out...we don't NEED you anymore...we have OTHER ways of communicating with each other and your not one of them...

When maintstream media outlets stop using anonymous sources, I will consider thinking of them as something more than fake. Until then they are propaganda organs.

They talk a lot about fake news but I’ve never heard any examples. My suspicion is that the fake news is reported by the major networks as often as it is by the Russians.

Sheesh. She was a 30-year-old young woman who just got a job as an assistant professor. She is not a “professor.” She’s a new hire who wrote her dissertation on fat portrayals in TV just a year or two ago. She is not a “professor.”

a big problem with fake news is that search engines become “seeded” with fake news so that when people are trying to search a story to fact check it all these fake news sites with their fake stories are the whole first page of search hits
most superficially minded people (liberals) stop rigt there there

Isn’t it amazing how the leftists can organize a world wide campaign so fast. Who had ever heard of “fake-news” since this election. two weeks and it’s all the leftist propagandists are talking about. We here all know the truth of what this is. It is nothing more than to discredit and silence any and all opposition to their agenda. It is also a way for them to smugly state that anyone who doesn’t agree is so stupid they fall for all this “fake-news.” You know, the unwashed deplorable racists that voted for Trump. If not for the “alt-right fake news” all would have seen the glory that is Hillary Clinton.

If, then, the government is severely limited in its authority to require objectivity, what are we left with? Only the ability of the people to sort the wheat from the chaff. And it is precisely that which is under assault when the First Amendment is undermined. It is one thing for journalists to promote the idea that everyone is wrong who thinks independently of the Associated Press borg. It is quite another thing entirely if the government, at any level above the family, participates in that. The government has no legitimate authority, under the Constitution, to put its imprimatur on journalism. This implies that FCC licensing of broadcasting is illegitimate.

The AP - all the wire services - exist to economize on telecom bandwidth in the transmission of news. In the process, wire services function as unending virtual meetings of all the major journalism outlets. And thus, per Adam Smith, can only be expected to produce “a conspiracy against the public.” Journalism is superficial because of its deadlines, but most of al it is negative, because bad news sells. And yet journalists, knowing that they are negative, make the fatuous and tendentious claim that journalism is “objective.”

The claim is fatuous because candor about any reasons why you might not be objective is the first requirement for even attempting objectivity - and a claim of actual objectivity is the very antithesis of that. The claim is tendentious, of course, in that it seeks to foreclose debate over "the facts” as a unified borg of journalists, all reading the same newswire, presents them.

Argumentation from an assumption of your own superiority is propaganda. Propaganda is the stock-in-trade of “the MSM."
