Ofeibea Quist-Arcton, NPR's Africa-based correspondent, tells why her beat has proved one of the most interesting this year.
She discusses the stories that have been painful and devastating for many nations on the continent such as the violent political fights that have led to power-sharing deals.
She also describes the stories that have been exciting, including the U.S. presidential race of Kenyan-born Sen. Barack Obama.
The actual source of “Birtherism” was Obama himself.
His book publisher pushed him as being Kenyan years ago. Articles like this appeared. He never corrected them.
Either he knew and went along with the lie he was born in Hawaii, or he thought it made him ‘legit’ as a black voice when his half-white status created identity problems.

Professional biographies always originate from the subject. Unfortunately by the time Obama’s came to light the “birther” issue had been so thorougly demonized he was never compelled to account for why it so specifically stated he was “born in Kenya.”

I hope we can look forward to more such posts anyway. The fact that he won’t be peezy anymore does not outweigh the damage that he did under false pretenses.
The farther away that the Kenyan looks in America’s mirror, the better. Whether or not he was hatched from an egg, born in Kenya, or is Frank Marshall Davis’ kid I don’t care...just get him out of office. The man doesn’t even know how bad he was in office saying something to the effect, “well at my administration never had any scandals”. NO your administration, your staff, and the chaos were ALL a scandal. Talk about blind. I’d like to know what the man is smoking or snorting because it must be the really expensive stuff. The man is now playing the nice card and being all smiley on TV cameras in award ceremonies talking the same old smack he probably did on the basketball courts in his teens because he knows that’s how people will remember him and that in doing so we will think he did nothing wrong. Sorry but we’re not brainwashed like the minions that allowed you to create havoc for most Americans and made their lives hell, destroying their lives, jobs, savings, lifestyles, while you he live like a king. Even the protesters are blaming Hillary’s loss on him. Maybe they should show up at his new house after he move out since he didn’t think they were doing anything wrong and should be heard. Personally I think he should be run out of the U.S. so he can live among his kind in Iran where he can practice Islam all he wants.

Is a video out there that brings up a session of the Keyan Congress equivalent where they are talking about a National Holiday the day after Obama was elected because he was born in Kenya and they tell the representative who said that that he has to watch out about saying that because it is a issue of National Security. It goes on and on from there. Not sure where I saw this video.

Agree. Whatever else he may be, Ted Cruz is a solid conservative but many of us objected to him for the same reason we still object to Obama.
None of us are looking forward to twenty years of this clown being Carter redux. If his fraud can be proven we can send him off with his credibility destroyed.

IF he was born in Kenya and IF he was never naturalized, then Trump can deport him as an illegal alien; if he was born in Kenya and IF he was naturalized later, then Trump can jail him for fraud. Stanley Ann didn’t qualify under then current statute to pass along her citizenship by her being his parent alone. That required a US birth. (For the #NeverCruz types here, Ted’s mom did qualify by statute to make Ted a US citizen at birth, it’s whether or not that sufficed for Ted to be ‘natural born citizen’ that is controversial.) But if Obama was born in Africa there’s no controversy. He wouldn’t have even been a citizen at birth and if he ever became one later he’s never provided us with any evidence of it.

Also they created constant legal problems for Sheriff Joe trying to enforce Federal and then even state laws.
Just like they are trying to do to Trump - keep them so tied up with distraction its hard to get things accomplished and it hurts image etc.
