Eight children asked a Seattle judge Tuesday to find Washington state in contempt for failing to adequately protect them and future generations from the harmful effects of climate change, part of a nationwide effort by young people to try to force action on global warming.
The petitioners, between 12 and 16 years old, asked a state judge to step in and require the state Department of Ecology to come up with science-based numeric emissions reductions.

Our State Supreme Court has basically all liberals on it, so it is hard to say what kind of spectacle will be made out of this. I guess someone forgot to mention to them that without the adjustments that NOAA made to the historical record there would be basically no warming in Washington State for the past 100 years or in the country. The 1930s were measurably warmer than now.
If I were to sue over something at 16 it’d be the drinking age.
They don’t have standing, but I would love for one of these lawsuits to actually go to trial with a jury. Despite what the MSM, politicians, and academics have told us - the science is not settled. The science is strongly against it. Every claim they have made going back to the late 80’s - early 90’s has been wrong. Absolutely wrong. The claims in Al Gore’s book “Earth in the Balance” were all wrong. In fact, the warming (if any really has occurred) has been much smaller than the natural variances we have seen since the time of Christ.
I think these young folks should watch and heed the diatribe by my scientific advisor, the late George Carlin. It’s on Youtube, (caution, he uses some of the 7 words you can’t say on television).

In the article, it states there is a federal court looking at the same issue.
“This month, a federal judge in Eugene, Oregon, allowed a similar climate change case against President Barack Obama’s administration to proceed. In that lawsuit, 21 activists ages 9 to 20 argue that the federal government’s actions violate their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property, and the government has violated its obligation to hold certain natural resources in trust for future generations.”
