Americans are often surprised to learn that the pilgrims experimented with a communist system when they first arrived in what would later become the United States. This needs to go far and wide this holiday season! The pilgrims learned a tough lesson - that capitalism feeds far more than socialism. You've probably never heard this part of our country's history! Read and please share at http://resistancefeed.com/2016/11/22/the-real-story-of-the-first-thanksgiving/

Bump.
Make no mistake, the Founding Fathers knew this story and its lessons when they crafted the Republic.

El Rushbo tells this story every Thanksgiving. Worth retelling.

They also arrived late in the year, about 400 miles north. They were completely unprepared for their year.
They were lucky to be alive by spring.

History. My 3rd grade twins are learning about some Indians and nothing really about the colonists or Thanksgiving. A previous teacher actually had the nerve to tell them (and admit it later) that Columbus Day was simply a bank holiday. They are learning little about American history and our exceptionalism, except from their parents.

It's COLD up there in Massachusetts. The Pilgrims did not know that.
Winter sucks.

I learned in school in 5th grade As did I! The "Mayflower Compact" and its results were once taught in Elementary Schools (long, long ago). Now replaced by socialist indoctrination and self-esteem instruction!

And Dad and Grandad questioned the heck out of me to make sure that I'd learned it.

What people do not realize that Pilgrims NEVER share food with non-Pilgrims. That continues to this day for all the Pilgrims in the USA and remaining in the UK. Somehow the importance of the Pilgrims breaking from church doctrine is somehow not taught in schools today.
