I get the principle, but its South Dakota, its a $10 fee (you don’t pay if you don’t pass the background check). That’s it. You go to the sheriff, you fill out a form, in 2 days you get your permit (in some counties you don’t have to wait) you pay the $10 and that is that. No classes, nothing.
Pretty much everyone I know here who can have one does.
