Had he lived, we would not have experienced Vietnam, or Johnson.

I don't know about that. The guys that ran the war for LBJ were the same guys that would have continued to do so under JFK. He might have pulled out, might not have. It is certainly not definite that he would have. The USA was committed to stopping the spread of communism in those days.

I remember that day! I also remember the day Reagan was shot! ABC news anchor FRANK REYNOLDS that day was running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off reporting on everything that came in!

Then it was mentioned that the gun was bought in Dallas! FRANK REYNOLDS throws his hands in the air and shrieks...”Aggg! DALLAS!”

The 1960 election was the first one I was old enough to understand what was going on. I remember listening to the debates on the radio (we did not have a TV). Quemoy and Matsu. No one knew who would win.

After Kennedy won, I remember my mother saying that she should go out and spend all their money because it was going to be worthless.

JFK was a liberal--but a Cold Warrior and not nearly as far to the left as the more recent Democrats.

Three famous people died on November 22, 1963. The other two were C. S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. The latter two wrote all of the books published under their names.

In some respects, equally as meaningful, if not more meaningful, C. S. Lewis died on November 22, 1963. Now there was a good man.

I was a freshman in high school, the teacher had me go to the office to get something as I was standing there a man came in and started to tell the secretary the news that Kennedy had been shot but we did not know how bad it was at the time. I hustled back to class and told the teacher what I heard. He got mad at me, he thought I was making it up. I told him it was true, I remember him running out of the room to the office.

Yes! My most enduring memory of the assassination, other than my mother mentioning that afternoon why the news reports never mentioned the “grassy knoll” again, was that Captain Kangaroo was preempted for the funeral.

Thanks for the reading recommendations. I always have a library list.

I purged my own library of all Clinton books 10 years ago when we retired and moved from CA to GA but not one of my JFK books. It’s just family history that is awesome to read - both Kennedy and Bouvier...

His assassination was scheduled for Miami in the Spring of 1963. The plan was quashed for Dallas with LHO to be the fall guy.

There was a list of willing assassins itching to pull the trigger. Does it really matter which ones were the actual shooters...

The real story is the orchestration of the event by individuals in power and its concealment in the aftermath.

The final expiration date for JFK files is nearing. Trump will be the President who can release the remaining 60,000 pages of withheld JFK documentation. But I believe the agencies can still redact anything they wish prior to this final document dump.

And for those who think there is nothing to be gained from those docs., you have to wonder why the information was hidden in the first place. Can’t have it both ways.

I was in the base theater ar Hickam AFB, Hawaii, attending a “Charm School”, when a chaplain came out and told us Kennedy had been shot. Ninety minutes later he came out and said he was dead. We observed a moment of prayer and then went outside. The main flag was being lowered to half staff.

I lived in Garland me and 3 of my buddies from high school used JFK coming to Dallas as an excuse to skip class. We went from Love Field to the Trade Mart and was standing there when his limousine went by at high speed with a secret service man standing up behind the windshield with a submachine gun. Strange Day

A trip to Dallas is nothing to lose your head over.

"I don’t give a rat’s patoot about JFK. He’s dead, Jim. And his degenerate family has ridden his halo long enough."

JFK had no halo. He was as degenerate as his family, including his father. Only a degenerate like Slick Willie regarded JFK as a role model.

Look on the bright side - reprobate though was, JFK was still more conservative than most of the ‘Pubbie candidates, much less the Democrats.

Trump is picking up the mantel from JFK on exposing some of those secrets. God protect this courageous man!

“Had he lived, we would not have experienced Vietnam, or Johnson.”

Had Nixon been president, we likely would not have seen the Berlin Wall or the Cuban missile crisis.

Full disclosure: I love conspiracy theories because I don’t believe much that is important or historical is left to chance when powerful people can make things happen.

My pick, the mafia because Joe Kennedy stroked out and didn’t get a chance to call the boys off the mafia’s back when he told Rosselli he would at Christmas time.

Or who benefited the most, had motive and opportunity, LBJ.

I’m 69 and may change my opinion again, but probably not.

Oh, I was a senior in HS and winning the debate tournament at Glendora HS in CA. The tournament was cancelled and we returned to our catholic school in La Verne and watched TV till our rides came and picked us up. The priests were mostly Irish and there was a lot of anger and gnashing of teeth.

JFK gets one good day a year. Otherwise, every week on the History Channel and other venues, there are stories about JFK and the Mob, JFK and Marilyn and her mysterious death, JFK stealing the 1960 election, JFK and his womanizing, JFK botching the Bay of Pigs, and so on. Slowly, JFK is being discredited and becoming politically irrelevant.
