Amazing we have to hand wring about Sessions while a criminal like Lynch sails though
Trump really needs to stock the courts with some good constitutionalist lawyers, too.
But this is great because it helps them get better people in Trump’s cabinet.
I checked out CNN last night. The discussion was that Sessions is a racist. Had to turn it off, but think about all the people who will believe it.
Yeah, it is an old trick to appoint longtime Senators, because fellow Senate club members are loath to vote against one of their own.
Maybe Tim Kaine will vote for Trump’s nominees.
I think Manchin would be in trouble with his WV constituents if he didn’t support Trump’s choices. Good that Breitbart is reporting this.
Thanks Harry... As dumb as you are, you managed to deliver a gift that will keep on giving during the entire 8 years Trump will be president. Another special thanks to Barry Obama for shoving Obamacare down the throats of the American people with a Democrat party-line vote that resulted in the congress becoming Republican and then the senate becoming Republican. These two along with the worst Presidential candidate in History (Hillary Clinton) has resulted in a Republican revolution unseen since the Reagan/Bush era. Enjoy!
We will soon find out who a lot of our Senators and Representatives are. I don’t expect Congress to be a rubber stamp for President Trump, but I definitely don’t expect them to be obstructionist. If they are, we’ll know who can’t be trusted with another term in any public office ever again.
“It would be really mature of you to research that before you “assume” it here.”
Lighten up Francis! Whew!
They can still put a hold on a nomination.
If he resigns and the governor appoints a replacement then that replacement could vote for him.
How about also, “And they that rolleth a stone, it shall return upon them” - The Good Book.
Does anyone know of any examples of the Senate rejecting a Senator in a confirmation hearing?
John Tower?
Is your reply a question?
You asked a question. I provided an answer. The “?” indicates some uncertainty on my part.
So I went and did the research ...
John Goodwin Tower (September 29, 1925 April 5, 1991) was the first Republican United States senator from Texas since Reconstruction. He served from 1961 until his retirement on January 3, 1985, after which time he was appointed as the chairman of the Reagan-appointed Tower Commission that investigated the Iran-Contra Affair. He was George H. W. Bush’s nominee for Secretary of Defense in 1989 but was rejected by the Senate, 5347.
Nice recall. Hard to believe that a was 27 years ago. Thank you.
When Harry Reid did this he was warned that one day he would regret it.
Manchin (D-WV) has already indicated he will support Sessions.
Look up the Senate map for 2018 - I suspect more Democrats will be cooperative than usual in confirming Trump’s appointments at least for the next two years.
Good to know - and we can hope.
