(CNN)President-elect Donald Trump will find himself with an unlikely ally if he makes good on his promise to be an economic populist challenging corporate America, Bernie Sanders said Thursday.
"If Mr. Trump has the guts to stand up to those corporations," said the former Democratic presidential candidate, "he will have an ally with me." The willingness on the part of Sanders, a longtime democratic socialist, to work with Trump on a series of economic issues underscores the unorthodox and strikingly populist message that Trump used during his stunning victory over Hillary Clinton. Sanders, speaking with reporters at a Christian Science Monitor sponsored breakfast, said he is ready to embrace Trump on a handful of campaign promises. Those include protecting Social Security and Medicare, negotiating for lower drug prices, raising the minimum wage to $10, imposing tariffs on companies that ship jobs overseas, and re-regulating Wall Street by re-establishing Glass-Steagall.

I know, but I do. This is exactly why Bernie would have been tough.
I really, really hope Trump finds things to compromise with Bernie on, on the economy.
They are both right, on this matter.
I hope that works out.
There will always be socialists. It seems so attractive to young people too. Bringing socialists and capitalists together to fight evil and corruption is good.
Socialism and capitalism are two ways to run a government. Each has a little of the other in it when run optimally. The ideologies don’t preclude fighting crime together.
One thing you can be sure about Trump. He won’t fill his cabinet with ex Goldman Sachs bankers, and he won’t pursue policies that jack up income for the fatcats and elites on the coast but that never makes it down to real Americans.
This Clinton initiative to set up an “infrastructure bank” that would channel projects to insiders. You’ll never see anything like that come out of Trump!
BTW, where are you and Hillary regarding the so-called protests against Trump that have turned into riots with arson, police attacks, looting, destruction of store fronts, assaults etc.? Why have neither you nor Clinton nor Obama said "stop it" like Trump said? This could be your moment if you had any sense of decency.

An alliance with Bernie is the Sun Tzu thing to do in order to crush the democrats beyond recognition.
Bernie gets the satisfaction of having participated in the destruction of the lobbyist/corporate manipulation of politics and Trump splits a large portion of support from the jackasses.
I think Trump will do one thing: put a quick kibosh to the AT&T/Time Warner merger and may end up forcing both Comcast and Disney to split off certain companies.
The Bern doesn’t know what to do with himself since he sold his soul to the one who sold him down the river and then got trounced....He has nothing worthwhile to offer except to demonstrate what happens when the Left “takes care of its own”.....
