President-elect Donald Trump can and should withhold federal funds from U.S. cities that say they will guard illegal immigrants from deportation, political columnist Charles Krauthammer said Wednesday on Fox News' "Special Report."
"It's something that should not be allowed," Krauthammer said. "Democrats have tolerated it. I think Trump would be within his rights to withhold funds, and he should, and the Democrats are making a big bet, and a mistaken one, if they decide that they are going to defy the federal government and what seems to be common sense: control your borders."
Sanctuary cities — those that shield illegal immigrants — "were a scandal before Trump," the columnist added, connecting the issue to civil rights struggles in the 1960s.
"The people who did this in the past were the racists in the South who defied federal authority on civil rights," Krauthammer said. "So now it's in the name of something that appears to be humanitarian."
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who declared the Illinois city a sanctuary city, said he did not believe Trump would cut funding, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Krauthammer attempting to sound relevant. He was quite confident Trump wasn’t going to win. He’s been inside the Beltway for far too long.
Dr. Kraut has run his course, and he was worse wrong than Dick Morris in 2012 and FNC bansished him. Time to go, Doc.
What are they going to do if Trump does withhold funding? Protest? Riot? Vote against Republicans? I don’t see a downside. The upside is that many will have to discover a different way to make a living.Deporting illegal aliens will open up jobs for the lazy and idle welfare rich.
You can’t have states and cities that don’t obey federal law.
Include even the universties/colleges in that no just the cities.
A law to cut off federal funding for not complying with federal immigration laws was quietly passed this past July....and this is just law enforcement money...many other avenues can squeeze these scumbags trying to perpetuate illegal persons within our borders....this is going to be fun. A law passed in 1996 states that every state /county etc.... that accepts federal funds MUST comply with federal immigration laws 100% of the time...
So, how can Cities set immigration policies against signed law? They can't, this is an easy one for Trump.

One thing that will need to be addressed is businesses who employ illegals.
What we’ve seen is Jose Wetback Roofing opens up with illegal alien labor (Jose probably came here illegally too, but was granted citizenship back when Reagan was President), so in order to stay in business Joe White Guy Roofing follows suit. You have to make sure that Jose has to get rid of his illegal workforce so he doesn’t cause the demise of his “American” competitors. The playing field needs to be as flat as a pool table and anyone trying to skirt the law going forward should be asking for his business to be closed down and some jail time to boot.
Chicago alone would lose 1 billion in Federal funds.
Any money saved should be earmarked for the Wall and border enforcement.

Yup, SweetCakes by Melissa had to close down their business for not obeying federal law. I believe the same thing happened to a florist.
