Kansas’ Kris Kobach, immigration hardliner, could be Trump’s attorney general

Kris Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state whose hardline immigration stance has caught the attention of President-elect Donald Trump, could be a candidate for attorney general.

Kobach, already a member of Trump’s transition team, advised Trump on immigration policy, one of the Republican’s top priorities, throughout the campaign and added Trump’s promise to build a wall along the Southern border to the Republican Party’s national platform.

Other candidates who may be considered for the position include Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani told a gathering of CEOs Monday that he “won’t be attorney general” and on Tuesday, it was reported that Giuliani was a favorite to head the State Department.

Kobach's spokeswoman, Desiree Taliaferro, initially dismissed the rumors as "just chatter," saying that Kobach had not had any conversations with Trump’s team about a possible appointment as attorney general.

However, in a second phone conversation late Tuesday afternoon she appeared to treat it as a more serious possibility.

"I can't confirm or deny at this time," she said.

Credible source tells me KRIS KOBACH likely Attorney General.

Kobach was the architect of one of the toughest immigration laws in the country, which he drafted when he was a professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Arizona’s controversial 2010 SB-1070 law most notably requires law enforcement officers to demand to see the papers of anyone they suspected of being in the country illegally, and has been denounced for encouraging racial profiling.

I’m telling you, right now....

We need to deluge Mitch McConnell with emails, faxes and phone calls. He MUST suspend the filibuster for all Trump appointments. Expect the Dems and RINOS to try and die on this hill.

That would be fantastic. If not, head of DHS or something similar.

Good. The Attorney General should believe in the rule of law.

Kobach won’t be Attorney General. That’s a plum position and there are a lot of people a lot closer to Trump who will make a claim for it. Kobach may be offered an deputy secretary position somewhere but I doubt he’d be interested in that. He has a governorship to run for.

He MUST suspend the filibuster for all Trump appointments.

The only position that I believe can be filibustered anymore is a Supreme Court appointment. Republicans control the committees, they control the hearings, they can move these appointments through very quickly. Assuming, of course, that no Democrat senator places a hold on the nomination...

Pam Bondi was complicit in the prosecution of George Zimmerman when the investigation showed there was no evidence. She should not be on the list.

Kobach seemed to get Rush’s endorsement yesterday.

I saw Pam Bondi on a YouTube segment about Florida voter fraud and she seemed to be a perfect Trump selection also - tough to argue against and easy on the eyes. You have to understand how much feminists can’t stand a hottie with a brain.

I think that shows just how fouled up all of this is. Whites are constantly defending themselves from charges of 'racism'. Yet everyone of these organizations and hundreds/thousands more are raced based and decidedly anti-white.

Ann Coulters is right. The proper response is screw you!

If Kobach becomes AG then we will know God still believes in the U.S.A. I know Kris, and he is one of the greatest Americans I know — and as a result relentlessly pilloried by the media and elites. I pray for him and hope he does indeed get this position

From what i am able to read about him he seems like a decent choice.
I would choose him over Cruz.
