Gingrich makes case to be Trump's strategic planner
The Washington Examiner ^ | November 14, 2016 | Kyle Feldscher

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Monday he wants to be a long-term strategic planner for President-elect Donald Trump in order to transform the country.

Speaking on Fox News Monday, Gingrich said his thoughts are already on how to hand off a successful Trump administration to a Republican successor in January 2025. He wants to work in the administration in such a way that would help him focus the administration on that lofty goal.

"It's not a very normal position but this is not going to be a very normal presidency," he said...

"I probably bring a different historic perspective to this than most people," Gingrich said, "and to achieve the kind of goals they have in mind you need to have some strategic planning..."

In some ways Newt is brilliant. In other ways he’s a loose cannon whose mouth out runs his brains...He’s too dangerous to have around in a hectic environment. They’d have to create an entire new dept. just to put out the Gingrich fires.

Gingrich won the Virginia primary for Trump... by campaigning for Kasich! (to take NOVA votes from Rubio).
Otherwise Rubio would have won.

Oughta be something Trump can do for him.

Is this going to be the conservative speaking Newt Gingrich?

Or is it going to be the Alvin Toffler, Future Shock visionary Newt Gingrich?

Inquiring minds want to know before they have to make a choice.

...the problem is you never know which one you’re gonna get at any moment. I suspect there is a mild bit of bipolar in old Newt. Not Glenn Beck nuclear grade clown face in the Cheetos bipolar, but bipolar all the same.

“Look like Newt didn’t get a job”

He has always wanted the job in the article. Nothing new.

Agreed. And when he starts going all "transformational" it's like he gets almost glassy-eyed.

I love Newt and at times his analysis is dead-on and brilliant, but unfortunately a good 30 percent of the time he's a dumpster fire.

Worse, his "loyalty" toward Trump during the campaign wavered a time or two, which is a cardinal sin in Trump world.

Newt prides himself on being a visionary.
I think he likes Trumps vision and thinks he could help fill in the methods to achieve it.
Trump can just ring up Newt anytime as Newt can go on the media circuit just like it is already.
LOL, I think he already has a job with Trump.

Honestly, I don’t know what Trump would do with Newt. It really did not impress me that Newt admitted to getting weak-kneed around Bill Clinton when he was speaker. Maybe Secretary of Education?

I hope he will get a vision of immigration courts set up in Wal-Marts nationwide. If we don’t exit these people it will be the final right-wing party.

Newt walked away from immigration control & ending Affirmative Action in 94. Bill Clinton played him like a fiddle. He’s a smart guy, no doubt, but Trump does not need the headaches he brings.

Exactly right and great point . We should never forget the Toffler third way collaboration garbage .. Newt has a very spotty past , including the anti-gun legislation he allowed to pass under his watch . Newt has always been a globalist free trader , not sure if that’s changed .

“Newt has always been a globalist free trader , not sure if that’s changed.”

Subject to change, like most of Newt’s positions.

It all depends on which side of bipolar Newt is winning at the moment, Jekyll or Hyde.
