We are a constitional republic, not a constitional democracy. Hillary and many politicians get this point wrong all the time.
Andrew Wilkow (Sirius XM Patriot 125) is talking about this now with Ed Klein.
Deliberately?

“We are a constitional republic, not a constitional democracy. Hillary and many politicians get this point wrong all the time.”
And it is quite telling that Illary is a “Democratic” that would support eliminating the EC while we “Republicans” want to maintain it.

A great paradox of the Populist call that directly elected Senators would reduce corruption and the power of the business interests is the fact that state legislatures which appointed senators were democratically chosen at the local district level. So local democracy in the Pooulist argument produced corrupt results. Why would state wide democracy be better?
What part of "We the PEOPLE"" doesn't she under stand.
Funny he mentions Scalia, because he regularly referred to America as a “democracy”. In practical use, “democracy” has become shorthand for a democratically elected republic, which is how Scalia used it.
This is why, as the National Education Association gained power in the 70s, US History and Civics was dropped and replaced with Social Studies and Humanities.
Look, republic or democracy is just a matter of practicality. We do democratically elect our representatives and they are to act within the laws. Clearly they did not understand the limitations of their scope. And the DNC especially, tried to break from the shackles of the electorate. Like a genie escaping the limitations of his lamp, politician thought they could buy the electorate and sell the government to the highest bidder both here and a broad.
This is what the election was about. A rejection of big money. A rejection of politicians who think their scope is beyond their constituency and the limitations of their office.
Democracy rhymes with Democrat. That simple.
No Democrat can correctly say we’re a republic, because that rhymes with Republican.
“...and to the republic for which it stands.”
Can’t spell liberal without lie.
...and the only true thing she said was “I’m sick and tired”

We came oh-so-close to electing a Leviathan type of sovereign executive that would soon make Thomas Hobbes blush.
Instead, we stepped back from the precipice. But unless Trump can support fundamental reforms through Article V, I fear the next four or eight years will be just a bump in the road on our 100 year trajectory to tyranny.
Not not looking to argue.Just curious because you seem to know what you’re talking about. I was in school in the 60’s and it was already called social studies back then.
The more violent the left gets, the larger the protests, the more the media will seek to deflect blame from them. This will only widen the gulf between people which i suppose makes good headlines and great video on the 6 pm news.
Its good to have a president who won’t let them get away with avoiding responsibility for causing strife.
