Well we’re catching on these days. I figured out a long time ago OButt’s poll approval ratings was made up BS.
AND, he need to stay his course and competently explain to the public what he’s doing. He needs to learn from what GW Bush screwed up. GW’s answer to negative press was to make zero effort to defend himself. He figured good policy would explain itself. No, the media just took the stance, “He’s gone silent. That means he’s got no explanation and he knows we’re right in our criticisms of him and his policies.” The media just chewed him apart unopposed. How the hell is that supposed to motivate your base?
In Bush’s 2nd term, he started chasing opinion polls. On the VERY few issues that he took a strong stand on, he was on the wrong side of the issue (his Supreme court pick, a woman whose experience in law wasn’t even up to that of an entry-level paralegal; and illegal immigration). At the same time, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan languished and became rudderless. He turned progressive and all the conservatives that had his back for 6 years got kicked square in the teeth repeatedly. He went from 50% of the electorate hating him to 100% of the electorate hating him. NOBODY trusts or respects a turncoat.
The best thing Trump could do is take a hard look at the Bush Administration and hold it up as an example of what not to do.
I approve of his vacating the White House in January.
