RALEIGH, N.C. — The Trump train that carried Republicans to victory all over the South may have left one car behind in North Carolina — Gov. Pat McCrory, who trailed by a few thousand votes Thursday in a still too-close-to-call race that played out amid anger over the state's transgender bathroom law.

The law limiting LGBT rights appeared to have a substantial role in the Election Day contest between McCrory, who signed the measure and vigorously defended it against boycotts and other protests, and Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper, who called for its repeal.

This key Gubernatorial election is not over yet. Thousands of Provisional ballots have yet to be counted. Pat McCrory is a good man (IMHO) who should win - and he is amassing a legal team to help with the probably recount if that is where this goes.

People can contribute to the legal fees here: http://nc.gop/. Have only til Nov 15th to raise $1 M for legal defense fees.

My apologies if this is not appropriate to post here on FR - and if not - Admin Moderators, Please delete this post.

A bit more information:

“McCrory could still win. There are tens of thousands of provisional ballots that have to be examined to determine whether they are valid and can be added to the vote tallies. Counties don’t have to submit their final results until Nov. 18.

North Carolina debated, passed and signed the bathroom bill in a one-day special session in March. The measure, known as House Bill 2, requires transgender people to use restrooms in schools and government buildings that correspond to the gender on their birth certificate.”

America is in big trouble, no jobs, the economy is in the tank and people want to chose their leaders according to about how they feel about men pissing in ladies rooms. Weird stuff.

From the story it’s heavily Republican.

Good Lord, when did this country decide that it’s perfectly fine, and normal, for mentally disturbed men to share the same bathroom as young girls? How does McCrory lose an election for taking the right side of this debate while Target hemorrhages customers for taking the wrong side?....in the south, no less!

He was winning Tuesday until close to midnight when 93,000 votes were “found” in Durham County... only in Durham County. It’s one of the most liberal counties in the state and heavily minority, in case you didn’t know. This is the same county where the polls were held open for another hour beyond the rest of the state.

I really hope this ends on a happy note...

The night before the election some talking
head said the Dems wanted the NC governorship *more* than the POTUS.
He said IF they had to choose it would be NC.

That’s been stuck in my head.

I smell fraud. If the people of North Carolina was punishing the governor for signing the law then they also would have punished the legislature for passing the bill.

We don’t see any North Carolina state reps or state senators losing there seats so why would the governor lose his? One word: FRAUD.

I was afraid that Trump would lose NC due to this bathroom issue and the whole world would be affected by the stupid law (it’s stupid because it had to be done due to a Charlotte ordinance that mandated transgender people be allowed to use the opposite sex’s bathroom. CHarlotte was the stupid one).

But God be praised, even though Governor McCrory’s race was so tight - Trump won NC ANYWAY!!!!!

NC under McCrory has done well since he took office. He hit a buzzsaw with HB2 (with the original ordinance in Charlotte being put in place by a registered child molester). The transgendered LGBT out-of-state crowd pushed many sports-related groups (NCAA, ACC, SEC, NFL, NBA) to enact sanctions against the state due to this bill. McCrory has pretty much ignored them, which has PO'd them all the more.

In the only debate between the candidates, McCrory handed his opponent (Cooper) his butt. It wasn't even close. Cooper has leaned heavily on the HB2 opposition for support, which tapped a largely non-NC source of funding and pressure.

I hope to God that McCrory can pull this out...

Many think McCrory did not do well because he did not give teachers a pay raise after he was elected. Most teachers voted against him.

YES, I think it was 8 Durham county precincts STAYED OPEN several hours past the normal closing time - giving the Dems time to send thousands of liberal voters through the system.

THAT was VOTE FRAUD.

McCrory is going to fight for his election - and we can help - that’s why I gave the NC GOP url - they are collecting funds for this fight.

I am donating.

But he and the Legislature did give Teachers a pay raise. I don’t know how much it was but it was a substantial raise. It just was not probably what the Dems and the Teacher’s unions wanted.

Think about it for a moment... do conservatives ever call for extended voting hours? No. Why not? It’s a bit like the conversation on gun control... it only applies to the law-abiding. Conservatives make sure to vote during the appropriate time. Extra hours will always benefit those who operate outside the margins.
