Business Insider ^ | 9-4-13 | Walter Hickey and Joe Weisenthal

Using Census data, we've figured out that half of the United States population is clustered in just the 146 biggest counties out of over 3000. Here's the map, with said counties shaded in. Below the map is the list of all the counties, so you can see if you live in one of them.

Imagine living in the gray counties and the blue counties voted opposite of you.

That's why we have an Electoral College

Folks miss the true value of these kinds of maps.

They lay out in great detail where you DO NOT want to move to. Actually, a couple of counties away would be even better....

How many of them are sanctuary counties? Illegals would choose the president every time if it was decided by popular vote. They’d even bus them in from Mexico for a one day vacation to vote. Mexico would make US election day a Mexican holiday to free them up to go vote in the US.

I iivei n the most republican county in western oregon. 50% rural and conservative. But, it seems more of the moon bats are moving here because where they lived in the valley(portland, beaverton, eugene, salem)that those areas are not a healthy place to raise a family. Go figure.

Cursory review of the electoral map by state, shows that Hillary won only 50 electoral votes from states in the interior of America. The vast majority of her support came from the northeast liberal states and the Pacific coast liberal states.

Hard for liberals to swallow, that they just have no appeal to most parts of the country.

The electoral college keeps states that would otherwise be irrelevant,,relevant.

That means it keeps a lot more citizens, and areas and concerns those citizens have, more relevant.

Snowflakes are not taught this simple truth. If they hear of it they are taught not,to think about it and not care about the truth of it, and that thinking about it to determine its validity, is racist hate thought.

Cities, not counties. Usually cities identify as sactuary spaces. I suppose some cities may well be as big as their counties, or,almost, in some cases.

There are a few exceptions. Volusia County Florida (Daytona Beach Area) voted for Trump 54% to Clinton's 41%. Some call it the "Redneck Riviera". My real estate tax went from about $6,000 a year (Fairfax Co., VA) to $600. I go to the beach every day.

Already movement to change from electoral to popular vote. We are not a democracy but a republic, if we can keep it. If we didn’t have the 17th amendment at least that would have kept out of state money and influence from the Senate too.

Well you can figure several hundred thousand just in LA counties alone, especially since they are automatically registered to vote when they get their drivers license.

“That’s why we have an Electoral College”

Absolutely. Look at how big NY state is, and then realize that the whole of its electoral votes are determined by Manhattan and Long Island. NY should probably have it’s electoral votes split into upstate and downstate votes.
