Our Republican Secretary of State swears it’s a foolproof system, but I still wonder where a lot of those ballots come from.

Supposedly, they manually check each ballot signature against the signature in the registration file. Also, the technology is such that once a ballot is received for a voter the system will not count another ballot received for that voter. I’m still skeptical.

A local TV station did an investigative story and found out the elections people do not check their database against certificates of death. You put your finger on the biggest flaw in the system. I think that is true of most states, however. A daughter went to college in Chicago and a friend of hers went to vote in Illinois and the election official who checked her in told her her mother voted a couple of hours earlier. Her mother was dead.

RB, if it can be shown that legal pot depresses the DEM vote significantly, I may be for it. Too stoned to vote once, let alone two or three times.
