If the kids were so important, could I abort them and sell their parts for money?

I don’t think so. :)

I gotta give this one an emphatic “Maybe.”

What got America off the ground was spiritual, more spiritual than any other country in the world except for literal Israel.

It’s not “all about us.” Our role is very little; it is the role of saying “Yes” to God with our lives. We can’t make it about our own personal pride. And the fruit is more than just America. It reverberates into eternity itself.

We’ve had a generation that all too often said “No” and the result was the Clinton troubles, among many other things.

Now if God wanted to gather together a generation that would say “Yes” in unison (at least in sufficient number to be plainly visible) this would be very easy for Him. The era of John Knox Scotland was like this. It was said that “Christians were coming down from the sky.” I’ve got a theological theory about this, that it was a response by God to the believing prayers of the stern Calvinists who were absolutely convinced of God’s sovereign power to predestine anything infallibly. So they asked that their nation would be predestined to be filled with the elect — souls who would believe — and God answered “Yes.”

The same prayers that may have been made in Scotland can be made here today even yet. That America would be predestined to be filled with the elect, like Scotland was, with praise and thanksgiving to the Lord who makes it possible.

But God makes paths through the darkest hour. The scenario I pray and hope for would see a Donald victory followed by a divine victory that would make the most of the situation. But if Jezebel wins on earth — God has a way of raising up an Elijah and causing Jezebel to be eaten by dogs. There is a path to victory through either scenario.

Shall we believe and act on our belief?

That’s where I am. I’m 65 years old and haven’t worked for any candidate since Perot. I’m about to leave for my second to last shift at the Trump phone bank (the last one will be tomorrow). I’m doing it for my grandkids - and the country.

I made my apologies back in 2012.

Now I just pray that if Clinton is elected they survive long enough to piss on our graves.

Well, the ammunition of prayer never dries up. It is mined from the Spirit, not from the earth.

This is why I get a little irritated at the folks who say well of course they will pray about their vote, and then vote. So why are you bugging me about more.

This is superior to doing nothing spiritual at all, but the best thing is to keep the “covering fire” going day after day after day, dug into foxholes of absolute confidence in the Lord.

I annoyed folks to the point of being “doghoused” about this. But I will take the “crucifixion” for the sake of preaching how deep the love of Christ is and what it can do, if taken for an anchor of the soul. This means not looking at the preaching about it as if it were about our own prides. Christianity isn’t for perfect or even decent people. It’s for utter, absolute goof-ups. It’s for the Rahabs and Davids of the world. Some people don’t want to get to the point with the Lord that they confess they are absolute goof-ups who have already benefited from the Lord’s absolutely copious mercy.

And you are right, prayer before anything, and pray that God changes Hearts and minds. I’m sure our fore-father’s did the same. I know mine did, but also fought off the tyranny in the 1812 war. Thanks for your encouragement.

How about a card expressing sympathy for their hurt feelings WHEN Trump wins?

I’ve got a few relatives who go apoplectic when I even mention Trump. (My sister’s kids, no spawn of mine!) I just know the darling little snowflakes are going to have aneurisms and bleed from the eyes when they see the results come in on Tuesday night.

I need a card that tries to mend fences and offer them hope. Or I could just bitch-slap them until my arm gets tired. That would work too.

The point is not that we shouldn’t act, but we should rest our souls in the Lord first. And then with both the power and perspective that affords, we can act.

If I press people to make sure they have taken care of the resting of their souls in the Lord first, some don’t get the point and some do. Some appear to talk as though the thing that was important was by all means just to act. I’ve found out through bitter experience with my life — just to act, without that divine resting, is to increase the sin and chaos.

Jeremiah 17:

[5] Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
[8] For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

Well, for what it’s worth, I made my second trip to the early voting location and still found it almost impossibly crowded.

I expect to see mobs on Tuesday. This much spontaneous avidity for the Democrats seems implausible, but God knows stranger things. One thing about mobs, is that it discourages the lazy. That could be a help to the conservative people.

This possibility (of trusting in man) is a sad result of the fall in Eden. The serpent offered Eve the illusion of knowing good and evil. This was an illusion — it couldn’t literally be true — because such a power transcends the capability of our naked minds. We must be clothed in the Spirit to have it. Anyhow, carrying on in the way that the serpent offered is going to reap a curse.

It’s interesting that Eve got the temptation first. Now we have another woman up for election. For whatever reason, the temptation seems to be more potent to females than to males. Maybe because it offers the illusion of a false compassion, not balanced by a protective power.

Anyhow, it’s not about us. The most we can do is to say a feeble “yes” in repentance, which the Lord must cause to grow. It’s about the sovereign Lord who yet stoops to make an offer of love in His Son to us.
