Influential election forecaster Charlie Cook is backing off his call that the presidential race is “over.”
Cook, the publisher of the Cook Political Report, made headlines last month when he tweeted: “Take a close look at the new Fox News poll released tonight. This race is OVER.”

It’s nice to make predictions when they mean anything. Stupid people can predict anything up to the last minute. COOK is worthless.

It’s frustrating to see how some still say Hillary is far ahead in polls.
For example, some electoral college map sites still have Michigan and Pennsylvania as solid Democrat, when other recent polls show those states are tied or Trump slightly ahead.
I know some state polls are lagging behind the national polls. But still, if the national polls are this tight, there’s no way Hillary has comfortable leads in battleground states. Both can’t be true. They can’t have it both ways.
Well, this is almost over. We’ll see if election night is a relatively short night soon enough.

That’s what I think as well. The very first election I ever voted in was the Reagan/Carter election 1980 and this one reeks of that, I think Trump is going to obliterate cankles
Any polling guy that says a political race is over one month out, should be drummed out of the prediction market.
Anything can happen, and not all that infrequently, it does.
I had posted about this a week or so ago—when Charlie appeared on CSPAN.
He stared at the floor and mumbled when he said the race was over and Hillary won it. I think he made that statement under duress.
